Wings |

|
Reasantly, everything that is occult, pop-culture, popular; everything is depicted/influenced with western religous overtones. With the classic evil vs. good senerio with either angelic wings or demonic wings. Yet, there is something that attracts us to these symbols. But when CLAMP published X in 1992, it was growing, but not as blown-out as now. At the time, & still again, their depiction of either wings are still beautiful, especially on Kamui. On current art works of Kamui, they try to brouden their styles of wings & does a wonderful job at it. CLAMP has a certain style when drawing wings. In X's Kamui; his wings are portrayed over-grown, long, thin, & highly detailed. In many other artist's portrations, thier wings are barely just bigger than the character that bears it. But on Kamui, they are about twice as large as he is. I'd like to believe that it is also prefered to because if a person trully can fly with a pair of wings, they have to have a big enough wing span to support their body's weight; similairly compared to a typical bird. What exactly attracts us to these symbols that are nothing new? Besides the obvious beauty that is shown in CLAMP's style of over-grown wings, they are symbols of power, eternity, divinity, purity, age, status, all in one picture.
