"My lord... I have some important news to relay to you."

"Speak."

The female warrior cleared her throat. "We detected a rift through the
astral plane. It seems something or someone from one of the other three
worlds has appeared in our world. Whatever it is, there is great power."

"I see." He looked at his servant. "Does this have anything to with that
troublesome sorceress, Lina Inverse?"

"No sir." She shook her head. "Because if Lina Inverse were involved,
wouldn't your priests be reporting back to you, since they are watching over
her and her swordsman companion."

"Ah... yes... my priests Grau and Grou." With that he gave an order to his
servant. "You done well Sherra. Now... see to it that you can find more
about whatever it is... and do acquire it before Dolphin or Zelas hears of
this."

"As you command, lord Dynast."

Magictech Productions Presents...

A Slayers and Sailor Moon Crossover...

Slayers REVOLUTION

Another unlikely crossover from the minds of Shaun Garin and WarChild...

And as usual, nothing here belongs to us. If they did, we'd be rich!

Author's note(Shaun): When we first started this series, WarChild was
relating to me that Sylphiel should get her own series. Then, he added in
Sailor Moon as in it was his wont. I, naturally, was leery around this idea.
I mean, it was completely nuts in my opinion. But as time went on, we slowly
hashed out an idea, decided on a party of people and things went from there
on. I found it to be most entertaining, especially if I write it while
reading Slayers Trilogy and listening to Lord of the Rings Soundtrack.
Sylphiel, a minor character, gets the most powerful item in another Staff
World.

Then, I added in the idea of a Summoner, expanding the role of someone else
who was often over looked for better characters, added in the constant
recurring Guardian Forces or Spirit Beasts, and then finally, stuck
Middle-earth on the other continent. How THAT came about was a result of seeing
Lord of the Rings the night before.

What I find amusing about this series is that the loosely referenced Final
Fantasy series and my favorite of all time, Lord of the Rings, as seen in
this episode. Arguably, the most powerful object to date is the One Ring,
over in the other lands. But this is Slayers, not LotR. Thus, I have to keep
my impulses in check. And now, I hand my ranting over to WarChild.

Author's note(WarChild): Starting with Episode 3, we are going to introduce
an underutilized element that seems to be missing in the Slayers world, big
time monster summons. There are some sort of summon spells in the Slayers
world, but not of big monsters. Summons in this fic are inspired and
'borrowed' from the Final Fantasy series. And oh... this is the first
Slayers fiction where we give Dynast and Sherra some big role, so do tell
us if we're screwing them up.

As how did this idea really come about? Well, it's more due to me reading
strange message board posts. After reading something that involved Lina
and Sailor Saturn, I had to discuss the concept to Shaun of Lina having
Sailor Saturn's powers, considering she already had the freaking Giga
Slave. In the midst of conversation, I then suggested giving the Glaive
to Sylphiel. Why Sylphiel? Well, she's a damn good healer with only deadly
magic spells and nothing in between, much like Hotaru. Of course she does
have the Flare Arrows, but you know well how they work. And second of all,
you know in the first Season of Slayers, Sylphiel sorta berates Lina for
having the Giga Slave spell. That got to me thinking, what if Sylphiel
ends up with a world destroying spell? The Glaive worked perfectly.

BTW, this is a call to you fan artists out there. I would like to see
the best renditions of Sylphiel as Sailor Saturn out there(even though we
won't see Sailor Sylphiel in the fic any time soon.) Send them to
chaos_warchild@hotmail.com or shiunu@hotmail.com. We need fanart for our
webpage(http://omnipheonixmon.tripod.com) badly!

Episode 3: Thunder and Lightning! The mighty storm god Queztcoatl!

===========================================================================

The sharp ringing of sword against glaive echoed in the glade. Sylphiel
blocked an overhead strike as she and Zangulus parried back and forth with
soft handed strikes.

"Don't put too much force in those blocks, you'll exhaust yourself faster,"
Zangulus admonished.

Sylphiel nodded as she adjusted her swings. The weapons rang with metal on
metal sounds. Then, with a fancy motion, Zangulus knocked the glaive from
her hands. "Okay, that's good enough for today. We should get going before
the storm hits. This IS the Storm Glade, just next to the Storm Plains."

"The Storm Plains... an area famous for its unusually high number of
thunderstorms," Sylphiel remarked. "And despite that, people don't seem to
get struck at all."

"They say this area is being protected by a guardian spirit," Zangulus said,
putting out the fire that still smoldered in their campsite. "That's what
they believe why there aren't many deaths from the storms as you think there
might be."

"You sure know a lot of legends for a former mercenary. I had to explain to
Gourry dear the story behind Flagoon the first time I met him, even though
his ancestor was responsible for planting Flagoon."

Zangulus snickered. "Gourry isn't exactly the brightest candle you know."

Sylphiel sighed. "I know Gourry dear is not very brilliant, but he is a good
man."

"Say what you will," Zangulus said, taking up his pack.

Sylphiel followed suit, gathering her belongings.

===========================================================================

"Quite a town," Zangulus remarked as they entered the nearby town. The town
was decorated for a massive festival, people everywhere.

Sylphiel read the town entrance sign. "Welcome to... Statik Village. Home to
the Quezt.... Quezt...."

"Queztcoatl Guardian," An elderly man said at the front gates. "Welcome. Are
you here for the festival?"

Zangulus shook his head. "No sir... we're just looking for a place to stay
before the storms this area is famous for hits. Besides... I have more
important things to do than party at another festival."

"Oh, well that is a shame, for festival goers eat and sleep for free at the
Thunder Inn. But please, feel free to stay anywhere you wish." The elderly
man walked away, sighing to himself.

Zangulus sweatdropped, as Sylphiel looked at Zangulus. "Why did you say
those things? Don't tell me that you still only care about fighting Gourry
dear."

"Well, I... that is..." Sylphiel sighed at his stuttering.

"It will only be one day. Let us enjoy it while the event lasts." Sylphiel
walked away as Zangulus sighed and followed.

"Excuse me," Sylphiel said, looking at the man at the registration booth.
"We're here to attend the festival."

"Okay then." He punched up two tickets. "Go on ahead. Food, drink and the
Inn is free for visitors to the festival." He then looked at the two
critically. "You two new here?"

Sylphiel nodded. "We're passers by."

The man at the booth then pointed in a certain direction. "Then may I
suggest you see our exhibit honoring Queztcoatl first?"

Sylphiel nodded as she headed towards the exhibit, Zangulus following her a
bit sourly.

Stopping before a large depiction of a giant bird, a young man standing
beside the board began his talk.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen. Welcome! I guess you are interested in the
background of the one we celebrate in, the Guardian Queztcoatl, yes?"

"Yes. What's the legend about?" Sylphiel asked.

"How many of you heard of the story of the great war 1000 years ago, in
which the Water Dragon Lord faced of a revived shard of the most feared
Shabranigdo?"

Most of the hands went up from the people who had gathered behind Zangulus
and Sylphiel, their hands included.

"Well, as you know, most of the Mazoku who weren't battling the Water Dragon
Lord's loyal Gold Dragons, were causing havoc and destruction amongst the
various towns and villages throughout the area. This town was one of the
many places that they hit." The speaker paused for dramatic effect. "We were
on the verge of being wiped out of the face of the earth, when suddenly, a
being came from the sky, a being that embodied the power of thunder and
lightning!"

"It was that being who drove of the terrorizing Mazoku and sent them back to
where they belong. So... ever since for a thousand years, we have celebrated
Queztcoatl's divine protection against the Mazoku Race!"

The young man smiled. "They say that on particularly rainy days with
thunderstorms, you can see Queztcoatl fly in the skies high above."

Sylphiel just nodded at the story. "I would never think... that every town
has a history in regards to the war 1000 years ago."

"Most towns have been around since then, but have not grown exponentially
since," the young man said.

"Um... excuse me sir..." a scholar type person interjected. "But where did
Queztcoatl come from? And if this being is real, where would you place it
amongst the hierarchy of Demons and Gods?"

"Actually, we have not placed them in either category." The man announced.
"But it is my belief that this being is an embodiment of a force of nature,
brought to life by the four Dragon Lords long ago, and that there could be
others Queztcoatl's nature out there, unrevealed."

"What do you call them?" A pencil neck geek of a student asked, adjusting
his thick glasses... that could see the dark side of the moon in crystal
clear 3D.

"We believe it is a legendary Spirit Beast." The young man said proudly.
"Whatever they are, they are out there, and they are part in the ever
changing balance between darkness and light... and thus... between the
Demons and the Gods. My all you remember that, and remember the acts of
Queztcoatl a thousand years ago as you enjoy the festival."

Sylphiel turned towards Zangulus. "Did you ever hear about these Spirit
Beasts?"

"Once when I was a kid," Zangulus said as they grabbed a couple of plates in
the outdoor buffet. "They were said to respond to the Summoner, a person
born once every 100 years."

"And how long has it been since the last Summoner?"

"100 years." Zangulus loaded his plate with roast beef. "Summoners are
said to be a totally different class of magic user. Any summon-type magic
that any mage can do are insignificant to the Summoner's powers."

"I see," Sylphiel scooped up a plate of some type of grains, cooked with
vegetables as she and Zangulus sat down to enjoy what would soon come to be
known as a Chinese/Western Buffet.

===========================================================================

"Mmmmm.... these humans sure know how to throw a party." A blue haired man
helped himself to a plateful of food. "Surely the boss don't mind if I enjoy
myself before I ruin the festival." He was obivious to his surroundings that
he didn't notice someone tapping on his back. The tapping went on for awhile
until...

"What in the seven pieces of Ruby Eye are you doing, Krystox?!" a blue
haired girl yelled in his ear.

"Aaaaahhh!" Krystox dropped his plate and turned to the one who yelled at
him. "Oh drat! Sherra!"

"You just have to indulge yourself, didn't you?" The irate general demanded.
"Lord Dynast would gladly replace you if you keep on slacking off."

"Ummm... ahh... I wasn't slacking off..." went the Mazoku disguised human.
"I wanted to enjoy myself before I implement our plan to ruin that
Quez-whatever's reputation. I know what I'm doing."

"Right..." drawled Sherra. "Speaking of which, there is another order from
Dynast himself... we have to.... oh crap... hide you idiot!" Sherra grabbed
the unhappy Mazoku as Sylphiel and Zangulus walked by.

"The hell?" Krystox demanded as he was pulled down below the table. "What's
the big idea, Sherra?"

"Those two are close associates of Lina Inverse. The white priestess of
Sairaag, Sylphiel, and the king of Zoana, Zangulus," explained Sherra. "But
what the heck are they doing so far from their respective homes?"

"I'm more interested in that weird weapon the priestess has," Krystox
rumbled in thought.

"Weird weapon?" Sherra eyed the weapon, and then used her Mazoku gifts to
analyse it. And her eyes widened. "That's the thing!"

"Care to enlighten me?" Krystox inquired.

"Shortly a while ago I detected a dimensional rift, and something coming
from that rift. That weapon does not have the same astral signature of
anything that was created or born on this world."

"So, it's a special weapon that fell into this world." Krystox stood up.
"I'm going to go play 'Innocent Pencil Neck Geek' for a bit."

"Just so you know, Dynast wants whoever or whatever that came from that
rift, which means we must recover that weapon before Zelas or that insane
Dolphin put their smelly hands on it." Dynast's general looked at Krystox in
the eye. "So.. do you think you can take care of that as well as your
original mission?"

"Oh yeah, no problem." Krystox grinned. "It'll be easy."

"Right.... just don't screw up. After all, they are not to be
underestimated, being associates of Lina Inverse and all," warned Sherra,
before she astral shifted.

Krystox snorted. "Reputation my ass..."

===========================================================================

"Ladies and gentlemen... in a mere fifteen minutes, the celebratory rituals
to honor Queztcoal will begin," went the announcer. "As in our tradition,
we are to have three guests participate in the ritual!"

"Hopefully, we will be granted with the presence of the protector of Statik,
Queztcoal himself! Now... may I have all the first time visitors stand,
please?"

Zangulus blinked. "You got to be kidding me," he muttered before Sylphiel
elbowed him, making him stand up.

The man scanned the group and beckoned to Sylphiel, Zangulus and Krystox.
"Please, you three!"

Zangulus wondered 'Why me?' as Sylphiel dragged him up to the stage.

Krystox was smirking. He was so very close to achieving a goal and get his
name on the record list for the fastest job done.

"Now... will this years official ritual participants come to the stage? We
know who you are," the announcer called.

When the local ritual participants walked up, he said to the crowd. "These
guys have the toughest job. They have only about... 7 minutes to teach these
three the proper techniques for our rituals.... so... blame them if
Queztcoatl doesn't come!"

Zangulus sweatdropped. "For the love of Mike."

"Now... to dress them in the proper ritual clothes..." went the smirking
announcer.

Zangulus blinked as a dozen curvious women dragged him behind a curtain.
"Hey, no touchy!" he exclaimed as clothes went flying.

Sylphiel blushed as she took the costume, handed to her by what was soon to
be known as Chippendale Hunks. She ducked into the changing room quickly to
avoid any embarrassment.

===========================================================================

"I can't believe you're not embarrassed by the outfit you're wearing. You
are so wearing less than your priestess outfit," Zangulus commented. "But
I'm embarrassed about everything and that's final!"

Zangulus was dressed in a towel like thing that wrapped around his lower
half of his body, tied with a belt of colorful cloth. He wore an elaborate
headdress. Sylphiel was dressed in a similar outfit but with a bikini top
and similar headdress.

"Are you so scared to experience new culture?" asked Sylphiel.

"Scared, no. Embarrassed out of my mind, yes." His arms folded around his
chest which bore many small markings. Markings that either came from falling
on a rake repeatedly, or... Sylphiel blushed at the second option popping
into her mind.

"Well," said the announcer, "are you three versed in Statik's ritual in
honoring Queztcoal?"

"Um, no..." Zangulus replied.

The announcer sweatdropped, wondering if it was a good idea to let those
'particular' women be in charge of explaining the ritual. Looks like he'll
have to improvise on the dot.

The man cracked his knuckles. "Well then, please, follow my lead!" He turned
around as a rythmic chanting began.

"Boom... shakalaka... boom.... shakalaka...."

"One hand forward! One hand forward! Turn and Turn! Cross both hands, wiggle
your hips and shout..."

He never got to finish, as suddenly, electrical discharge exploded
everywhere, thankfully halting the production of the first Macarena.

The announcer blinked. "I wanted my chicken baked, not fried...." he
muttered before crashing to the ground.

Sylphiel and Zangulus looked at each other, and looked at the local ritual
"participants" who were saying things like "was this in the script?" and
similar comments.

"Obviously not," Krystox remarked as he snatched the weapon laying on the
side and bolted. "See ya suckers!"

Sylphiel blinked, and realized what just happened. "Stop, you thief! Flare
Arrow!"

For once, she got it right as an arrowhead of fire lanced out and exploded
before him.

Krystox leapt over the explosion as he neared the door, preparing to shift
into the astral plane. But then he heard the frightened cries of the
festival goers, as lightning came down and started to ruin everything.

He decided to stick around, and feed on the various not-happy emotions that
was in the air.

Bad move.

"Howling sword!" Looking like a really pissed off Incan God with sword,
Zangulus stood, ready to do battle. Thunder crashed in the background. It
really was a picturesque scene... if you could ignore the total chaos around
them. With one swing he fired a blast of air at Krystox.

Krystox prepared to leap... but found his powers somehow blocked, taking the
wind blast full on.

He dropped the weapon, as he crashed into a nearby building. Zangulus leapt
at him, putting his sword at Krystox's neck, while Sylphiel went for the
weapon.

"Now, what the hell do you think you're doing, taking something that doesn't
belong to you?" Zangulus demanded.

At first Krystox frowned, but then smirked as he saw what was in the sky.
"Nyah nyah, you couldn't hit the side of the Karrat Mountains."

Zangulus blinked. "What the hell was that?" Krystox responded with a finger
pointing up.

A thunder bolt crashed down between them as someone yelled, "Queztcoatl!
Queztcoatl is here!"

"Oh no! We must have offended him with our shoddy ritual! I told you we
shouldn't have changed it with the times and... aaaahhhh!" went another as
he was shocked into dreamland by another lightning strike.

Zangulus turned towards the offender... who wasn't there anymore.

"Wha..." Zangulus went, before hearing shouts from Sylphiel.

"Zangulus! We have to calm Queztcoatl down!"

Zangulus sighed. "First anger him, then calm him. We're going to die."

The creature was a bird, with a wing span about seven meters across. It
was pale green with yellow highlights. It's head was featureless, sort of
a round nub. And with each beat of its wings, thunder crashed.

And with one flap, a bolt of lightning struck near Zangulus, a strike that
was too close for comfort.

Zangulus cursed. "To hell with calming it. Lets just beat it down until
it calms. Howling Sword!"

Queztcoatl, being a lightning creature that flys in the air, was unaffected
by the attack.

Zangulus blinked. "I guess Wind doesn't hurt Lightning after all. Those
old sages WERE right..."

Sylphiel's eyes widened as she saw the creature preparing to retaliate.
Without thinking, she tried using the Glaive as some sort of javelin.

The bird creature dodged to the side, screeching as black magic crackled
from the tip of the weapon, creating a long streak of charred feathers on
its underside.

The weapon landed, embedding itself in the ground.

The creature, not having felt such dark magic, unleashed many lightning
attacks.

Oddly, the Glaive started acting as a lightning rod, attracting all the
attacks. It was as if it was sucking up the lightning as it were a drink.

"Ano... what's going on?" Sylphiel asked to herself. Then the attacks
stopped, but the weapon still glowed if something was still happening to
it.

"Ha! Now I got ya!" Krystox appeared again to grab the embedded weapon.
"Figures you wouldn't know how to use a weird weapon as this."

ZAP.

BOOM!

The weapon had discharged in Krystox's hand, unleashing the absorbed
energy. Result: one dead Mazoku.

"Wow..." Zangulus wordlessly breathed. "What the heck is that weapon?"

"Over glorified lightning rod," Queztcoatl rumbled, startling everyone
in hearing range. "At least the Mazoku is gone now."

Sylphiel and Zangulus blinked. "Mazoku?"

Queztcoatl nodded as he landed with a burst of air. "Yes. I was severely
offended at his presence so I decided to get rid of him."

"But to attack while your followers were still in range as well?" asked
Sylphiel, doubting a bit.

"I admit I acted rather rashly," the bird replied, sweatdropping.

"Well... I think we better leave before anyone else decides to show up. I
don't know about you, but I have my fill of this festival," Zangulus said,
looking for his regular clothes.

"I appologize for any inconvenience I had caused. Please, take this." A
ring appeared in Sylphiel's hand. "I will come if you need me, but do try
to call me in desperate times." He paused before taking off. "And if you
find the Summoner on your travels, give him or her the ring. They will
know what to do."

"Summoner? You believe there is a summoner out there?" asked Sylphiel.

The thunder creature nodded. "There is one for every century since the
Kouma Wars. It's up to you to find that person."

With that he flew back into the skies, which started clearing after he
disappeared through the clouds.

"He's... gone." Sylphiel said.

The elderly man who had greeted them at the gates began to sing songs of
praise to Queztcoatl. "Oh joy! He has come before I have lived my life!"

===========================================================================

Sherra had watched the scene and cursed at what happened. Not only did
Krystox failed to destroy Queztcoal's reputation, he failied to retrieve the
weapon.

Sherra sighed. 'That's what you get for using the real low rankers,' she
thought.

At least she got a fairly good idea of the weapon's capabilities. First of
all, she felt the taint of black magic.

Secondly, she had most DEFINATELY felt the pull of the weapon, as if it
were of the Ring of Sauron, a item from across the seas on the continent of
Middle-earth. The power, though brief, invoked a tremendous pull towards
magic users and common people.

Thirdly... she got that weird weird feeling that something about it was
familiar. Like it drew part of its power from a familiar source, but what?

Shaking her head, she decided to use a mazoku that was a LITTLE higher than
the recent one.

Too bad anyone touched by L-sama had the taint of chaos on them; throwing
curve balls into scenarios.

===========================================================================

"Finally... we can get out of this crazy village!" Zangulus declared, glad
to be leaving, considering Sylphiel insisted on spending a night in a
village, despite what happened, was still in a festive mood.

Zangulus carried a gracious amount of food for driving away the evil
mazoku. He considered it payment while the villagers gave it to the pair
happily.

Sylphiel, however, was deep in thought considering yesterday's events. It
had confirmed that the weapon was one of black magic.

Acted like a lightning rod and dispatched mazoku like they were bales of
flammable hay, and she didn't know what the heck it was in the first place
made the whole situation stink of outside manipulation.

Thankfully, let it be known that the outside manipulations is not due to
our usual suspects.

Of course, that did make Sylphiel wonder who exactly WERE the outsider
manipulators. The mazoku known as Xellos was probably watching Miss Lina
or according to Lina's letters, annoying that female golden dragon.

Sighing in defeat, Sylphiel decided that they should get to the task at
hand. Finding Lina and Gourry.

Failing that, follow the mass trail of broken and bruised bandit
hideouts... like they were doing now with the one they were nearing.

Zangulus wiped the soot off of one log and inspected it. "Yep. Gourry and
Lina were through here about a half week ago. These burn marks are new. And
look, this gate is totally cut through. Only one man I know can cut through
solid stone and leave a clean slice."

Sylphiel sighed. So close... and yet so far...
