Chronoceptor, chapters 1-5. Chapters are titled as follows:

 1. Introduction/Disclaimer
 2. Hurricane Serge / Conker's Crusade
 3. On the Road Again
 4. 24's Last Stand
 5. Preview of the Argetlahm Adventures (Ultimatum Saga part 4)

Keyvan : As always, be on the watch for spoilers. You don't have to play
Chrono Cross or Conker's Bad Fur Day to understand the stuff in here, but in
most cases it sure as hell helps.

(A/N - when we last were on the Ultimatum front, the new Chosen, Conker the
red squirrel, finally was appointed into Ultimanium's Battalion - the
gathering of a group of Chosen destined to confront the super saiyan
Ultramagnus and defeat him, returning equilibrium to the dimensions. (don't
ask. :) Ultimanium now only has three Chosen left to find, and then the
assault can begin... with Conker, Berri, Rodent, the original Ultimatum team
and these three new people, Ultimanium may just stand a chance against this
 new threat...)

(CAUTION - If you wanted to have any idea what that meant above, you should
have read the first two parts of the Ultimatum Saga - The Ultimatum, and
Deus ex Conker. It's not too late! Run a search on them NOW!)

Keyvan : Don't expect this story to be generally deep - I want to get past
introducing the Chrono Cross Chosen and get on to the Argetlahm Adventures
as quickly as possible. Add to the fact that I never really paid attention
to Karsh's storyline throughout Chrono Cross... well, I can expect you to
not be impressed. However, read on... the Argetlahm Adventures are better, I
 assure you...

Keyvan : Once more unto the fray. Davis, wanna look at this?

Davis : Damn it, not another one...

Keyvan : Honest, you star in the next one.

*Davis snatches the script out of Keyvan's hands*

Davis : Fine. Hey, Vee, we got more work.

 *Veemon groans*

I tossed another loose rock across the relatively calm water. It was
generally a bad time to try to skip rocks across bare ocean, but then again,
it was generally ALWAYS a bad time to try to skip rocks on ocean. While
living alongside an ocean has its perks, one of them is NOT being able to
skip rocks. I kinda wish sometimes that these waters would calm down to the
point once in a while that I could virtually walk across it. That would give
me some killer skips. But, alas, Mother Ocean does not change her ways for a
young man like me. We polluted her... we robbed her of her pearls.. we
desecrated the life that once flourished in her.. maybe she stirs herself up
once in a while to piss us off. Not that I can blame her. Once, the
residents of Arni, including me, went on a massive fishing splurge in early
July. I can't say that helped much.

Sometimes, I'll look upon the stars and recollect what fate they represent.
... fate? Fate is nothing more than a force created by our masters to make
us double check our decisions. It bars imagination, courage, anything that
stands for the freedom and control of our own lives. Fate can be denied,
even if not totally defied. Some people need to know things like that.

I sometimes walk down along Opassa Beach.. like tonight. I sometimes look
down upon the sand when I walk... hoping the little green rift would sprout
through the sand again and take me on some far-flung adventure. A
dimensional distortion, they called it. It was my excitement, my pride, my
curiosity that brought me to it and sent me on the crusade against fate.
Sometime, I'll take the handle of the Mastermune high once again, return and
fight for other peoples' defiance of fate. It is then that they will realize
the salvation of not having to be held back by their limits.

Someday, we will all return.. and the Chrono Cross will have meaning to all
of us. The power to cross up the dreams of the dimensions and unite them in
one song of love... that would work too.

Aw, but, hey, for the time being, I think I'll go for a swim. The entire
'save the galaxy' mentality can wait. Mother Ocean's cleansing waters wait
for someone to leap from 50 feet and do a cannonball into them.

But when the time comes, I'll be ready...

For I am Serge - A Man of Arni!

"Serge!!" A voice rings out in the darkness behind me.

Leena stops at my feet and keels over, trying to catch her breath. "C'mon,
you'll miss the fireworks! You aren't going to stand here all night and just
 stare into space, are you?"

 Really, some nights I would.

She grabs me by the arm and begins to drag me off to the lights in the
distance - the village of Arni. Why someone would shoot fireworks tonight is
beyond me. We just had a disasterous fishing season in the El Nido island
chain, yet some people just wanna toss it behind them and make it look like
nothing happened. They'll have fun, I'm sure.

Urrgghh... I just can't get it off my mind... I want to go out and slash
something in half. Maybe this whole adventuring thing is taking over my
mind. I guess I could use a rest.

"Okay, geez, I can handle it myself." I sighed. I jerked my arm away from
Leena and began walking ahead of her.

"Tooooouchyyy!" Leena laughed. "C'mon, let's get moving!"

 ********

 FWADADOOM

Poshul fell out of his bed. He quickly stumbled to his four feet and waddled
 over to the window.

What was going on here? Like he would know. But he could detect something
 wrong with the situation...

Another four darts of light shot into the sky and exploded in a flash of
colored light. As Poshul began to settle down again on his blanket, another
brilliant dash of light across the sky shot forth. Except this one was
 headed toward the ground.

 ********

Radius sat on his porch a good distance away from the main festivities. A
reverse spiral hit the sky and spewed sparks down on the ground below.

"Hohoho! Looks like them down there are having some fun... I wonder what's
 going on..."

Radius slowly climbed out of his chair, and looked to the sky to see a
projectile shoot by ahead of him. He turned to track the disturbance as it
 rocketed forward.

Radius scratched his head. "Whatever those people are doing, they overshot a
 bit..."

 ********

I peered up and tracked the comet-like object barreling across the sky. It
 was losing altitude.

Leena looked back. "Serge...? What's wrong?"

 "...A falling star..."

Leena tilted her head to the side. "You don't see many falling stars around
 El Nido."

"Exactly. There's something up with it. It looks like it's going to come
down off the shore a couple of miles. I'm going to check it out after."

The object, as if it were being controlled, arced down quickly and slammed
itself into the tranquil tides not more than a thousand feet from the shore.
I looked on. Something was REALLY wrong with this picture.

"Leena, go back to the village and wait for me," I ordered. I'm going to try
to get a raft and check this out."

 "Aw, Serge..." Leena whined.

"No buts. I want to sit around and watch fireworks as much as anybody, it's
just that I have a really nasty feeling about this. I'll be back in about
 half an hour."

I turned and began running back through the reef toward the far-off Arni
village via Lizard Rock. Someone else must have seen it. I had to get a
 closer look...

 ********

Radius looked on towards the dancing and music that continued in the town
centre. "Now joining in... THAT would look funny..."

A child ran up to Radius. "E-elder! Come quick! Something's wrong!"

The child turned and ran into a nearby hut. Radius followed.

"Well, son, what are you doing inside at a time like this? With these
hooligans in the streets and all... I figured you would join in."

The child pointed into the lobby of the hut. "There! Right there!"

A hovering green pyramid sat at the end of the hallway. Except it was
dimming out every couple of seconds, followed by a small shower of sparks.

"The Record of Fate..." Radius gasped. "What could be disrupting it?"

"Oi! Think about it, old man - what normally throws off a disciple of Fate?"

Radius turned to the door to find a woman standing there. A rather small,
 indecently dressed one at that...

"Could I ask who you are, and what you are doing here?" Radius asked.

She threw out an open hand. "Nice to meet ya. Name's Kid."

(A/N - I'm going along with the theory that when Serge woke up on the beach
at the end of Chrono Cross, he was the only one to recall any of the events
that happened. The only other one to know of the adventure... need I
 explain?

From here on in, things might accidently become royally screwed up, so
 you've been warned.)

Radius reluctantly shook with Kid. "..yes. I am the elder of this village,
 Radius."

Kid rolled her eyes. "Yeah, one of the 4 Devas... yadda... we all know the
 drill."

Radius backed away. "What do you know of me?"

"That isn't important right now," Kid said. "Alrighty, I see you have a
problem with your Record of Fate here. You wanna know what really pisses off
 Fate?"

Radius was undeniably lost at this point. "...er... no."

Kid rubbed her chin. "Alright... how do I explain this...you have your Fate.
Fate normally defines what a person does and accomplishes in his/her life,
no? Fate believes it has all the cards - so Fate normally doesn't take
kindly to people messing with its infrastructure. Roughly translated, if
there's any way someone can avoid death artificially; insulting Fate.."

Kid looked over to the hovering turquoise element. "...Fate shows its fury
through its advocates, here. Tell me, 'elder', have you seen anything funny
 tonight in your village?"

"Well... we... um... we... had ... a falling star pass by..." Radius
 stammered.

Kid shook her head in disgust. "Just fricking peachy.. a Chrono
 Interceptor..."

 "Come again?" the child said.

"Chrono Interceptor. Zeal terminology for a person or object created that
purposely disrupts either a dimensional or chronological line. Old man, you
have a problem on your hands, here. You have any idea what kind of damage
people could cause if they could jump dimensions as they wanted?"

Radius stepped up. "Wait, wait a minute. How could just a meteorite present
such a risk to other dimensions?"

"That wasn't a meteor, old man. That was very much a manmade object you saw,
and it would be in our best interest to get rid of it."

Radius glanced out the window ahead of him, looking out to the sea. A storm
was brewing. He certainly didn't like the look of things. And for good
reason. No one loved dimensional rifts. And there was no telling what was
beyond it... or, to be more precise, what would come from it...

 END OF CHAPTER 1

Thunder crackled outside. I shoved a crate over to my desk and climbed up on
it. Reaching up, I removed the swallow off of the wall rack and hopped down
to the floor. I checked through my drawers and grabbed a couple of Cure
elements I had bought the other day, just in case.

Marge stopped me on my way out. "Serge? Where are you going at this time of
 night?"

"Mom, I'll be back in a while. A meteorite fell a while ago out in the sea
and I'm heading to check it out."

"Are you sure you should head out in this weather?" She sighed. "The only
thing worse than Mother Ocean is Mother Ocean in a bad mood."

I slid on a jacket. "I'll be alright. Fast in, fast out. I just want to see
 it."

"Well.. alright. Just don't go too far from shore."

I slid down the board that lead to the ground from our suspended hut and
took off toward the docks. There was always a raft parked there, no matter
when I checked. I only hoped someone wasn't smart enough as to leave one out
 there.

Leena stepped in front of me. "Where do you think YOU'RE going?"

I froze. "Well.. you know... meteorites beckon.." I quickly shoved Leena out
of my way and ran down to the wharf. The raft was still there. And that guy
was still sitting there, fishing. I leaped off the dock and onto the small
ship, throwing up the sail as fast as I could. The tropical storm gave the
ship a rocket boost as the 50 MPH winds shot the raft out to sea. I had to
hang onto the ground boards of the ship to avoid being drug off by the
 typhoon.

I could see the light from the impact zone glistening off in the distance.
It was all a matter of getting there..

 ********

Leena sat on the dock and stared out to the churning waters and the
hazard-prone Serge sailing off in the distance. "Urrgghh!!! Serge!!"

Radius jogged up. "Leena! You have to get inside! The storm's getting
 worse!"

Kid followed. "Hey, guys! Do you have any other rafts?"

Radius turned to Kid. "Sorry, miss, for your own safety, I can't let you go
 after Serge in this weather."

Kid stamped a foot down. "Damn it! For bloody hell, this is more than Serge
 we're talking about here!"

Leena shook her head. "I'm not going in as long as Serge is out there!"

"Give us a raft," Kid shouted. "And me and that bitch will go out there and
 get Serge back to shore."

Leena glared at Kid. "How DARE you..! I have a name, you know!"

Kid grimaced. "Shut the hell up, Leena."

Leena stood awestruck on the tattered wood platform. "How... do you know
 my..."

Kid shook her head. "You wouldn't understand if I told you. Now, Radius, can
we get a raft or not?"

"I believe I have one in storage," Radius said. "I'll go get someone to
 escort it out here."

Kid punched an open hand. "Hop to it! We don't have any time!"

Keyvan : Hmm... strange objects... dimensional rifts... could this be what
we think it is?... Ultimanium time!!

"Ultimanium," Lord Raul announced. "The probe is locked in and ready to go."

Ultimanium looked down on the planet below. "Conker."

Conker walked onto the starship's bridge carrying a case of beer. "Yeah?"

"I have your first mission, Conker. Alright - as you might recall, I sent
the J3 to the fifth dimension to claim the remaining three Chosen."

 "Uh-huh. So?"

"The probe arrived several minutes ago. When the storm outside of Arni
village subsides and it is safe to mobilize the J3, I will be sending you
down there. I need you to find three people for me....

Ultimanium snapped with his fingers. The 6 monitors in the wall blanked out
and the bottom three shut off. A rotating figure appeared in the first
display. He was wearing a red bandana and heavy jean shorts.

"This is the first Chosen from this dimension - Serge. Serge is a champion
battlestaff fighter, and has mastered some lower magicks. As well, his past
experience in cross-dimension affairs will prove prudent for our advances on
 Ultramagnus' dimension.

 The second display lit up.

"The second is a young woman, Kid. She is of a long line of Zeal, a niece of
the Queen of Zeal. She is a clone-daughter to the Zeal princess Schala. The
Zeal no longer exist due to a disaster involving the alien lifeform Lavos,
but their advances in the field of time and interdimensional travel are
present in the design of the J2 and J3. She may have an idea of how to best
utilize the dimensionsplitters. She is also an exceptional fighter with the
 dagger.

The third display turned on. In it was a built man with spiky purple hair.
In one hand he held an axe.

"The final Chosen is a man from this dimension named Karsh. I have not
acquired much information on this individual - the results for this Chosen
only came through recently and I have not had time to analyze them. Karsh
has extremely well-rounded combat skills, like the other two candidates. No
one in the land wields a handaxe like him.

"Conker, I expect you to be able to find these people within the next 48
hours. Do so to ensure your place as my assistant."

Conker shrugged. "..I'll see what I can do, I guess... I can't promise
 anything."

Ultimanium folded his arms. "Be ready, Conker. You won't have much longer to
 contemplate failure."

 ********

I placed my hand on my head to avoid losing my bandana. Can't lose that..
that's like an artifact to me. More so than my jacket, which just ripped off
my back and blew away in the hurricane winds.

I look up. The light is couple hundred feet from my position. If I can stay
on my trajectory for a couple more minutes... Damn! I have to figure out
 what that is!

What's wrong, Serge... why do I want to get to this thing so fast? There has
to be a reason, but it keeps escaping me.

 ********

The second raft plunged into the waves below the dock. "Radius! I can't
guarantee the raft'll hold together for the entire trip! Are you sure you're
going to let these people out to sea at a time like this? Maybe we should
wait for things to clear up!" the attendant wailed, trying to talk over the
 storm.

"Shut up, already!" Leena yelled. "We have to get out there and find Serge!
There's no telling how he's doing!"

"Leena is right. We can't possibly let the child go out there and get
 himself killed." Radius said.

Kid hopped down off of the wharf and hit the raft. "C'mon! We have to get
going if we're going to catch that bugger!"

 ********

The raft cleared another wave. I'm so close.. too close... I can do this.. I
just gotta live a minute longer... I cower as another wave crashes down
aside me, threatening to tear me and my transportation apart.

 Then I saw it.

It was just there, floating, tumbling in the ocean ahead of me. It wasn't a
meteor, no. It was a probe of some sort. A lump of metal... with a red paint
job and chrome stripes. I have to get it. Why? I don't know. It's an
 impulse.

I quickly dig through my pockets. I have to have that Element... ah.. yeah,
there it is. I begin to focus my thoughts and I put one hand forward. I toss
it down into the churning water beneath me.

 "Aquabeam!"

A small geyser of liquid shoots out of the water and pushes the object into
the air. I realize this is my chance and I steer the raft underneath the
geyser and cancel out the Element. The probe hits the surface of the raft
and makes it buckle under the new weight, nearly flinging me off. I have my
 prize. I'm done here.

"Serge!" A faint voice yells. I turn to see a raft with two figures on it in
 the chaos behind me.

I realize instantly. "LEENA!! Get back to shore! I don't want you to get
 hurt!!"

"Shut the bloody hell up, Serge! You're coming with us!"

I... I know that voice.. could it be....

A hand shoots out next to me and tosses me into the new raft. I attempt to
reach back for the probe, but Leena bats me back. No. I have to have it.
 But... they won't let me...

 They won't let me...

But then I snap back to my senses. "Leena! What am I doing out here?!"

"What the hell is wrong with you, Serge? You could've gotten killed out
here!!" Leena yells. What have I done?

It's all too much... I can't bear it.... I'm... just... tired..............

 ********

The dimensional gate tore open. Conker stepped out on to the sand ahead of
 him.

He looked around a bit. "...Ulty? Where is this?"

"This is the fifth dimension," Ultimanium explained. "You are currently in
the El Nido archipalego, a group of islands off the shore of the continent
of Porre. It's alien terrain, sure, but the Chosen are nearby. You must
 hurry."

Conker started off down the beach. He looked out to the sea, where a typhoon
was taking place. Conker shielded his eyes from the piercing wind that
roared ahead of him. Struggling, he continued on.

The J3 laid in the sand behind him.

 ********

Karsh paced out the gate of Viper Manor. Something was up. Something he
 didn't know of.

Zoah stepped out of the building. "KARSH? WHAT IS HAPPENING?"

"...I can feel it... the same feeling I had when I first went through the
dimensional rift with Serge's group. Something's going on around here I'm
not aware of. You know, just a really nasty feeling."

Karsh slid his hand across the steel bars of the custom gate of the manor.
"Zoah, keep an eye on the place for a while. I'm going to run down to Opassa
Beach and see what's happening in the area."

"WELL, I SUPPOSE," Zoah said. "COME BACK ALIVE, THOUGH."

Karsh stepped out and shoved the massive gate closed behind him. "I'll see
 to it."

 ********

Ultramagnus watched from an enviroment not unlike Ultimanium's. Monitors in
the wall. Mahogeny desk. The full monty. Except Ultramagnus' enviroment was
set in an executive office at the top of an office building.

Keyvan : The full monty, As in everything. Sick bastards.

A dark figure walked up to him. "...more iced tea?"

Ultramagnus waved him off. "No, that will be all for now."

He looked through the monitor. J2 had just finished surveying the area above
Arni village and brought him back results. Not particularly the ones he was
 looking for, however.

"These Chosen aren't here right now. And I have no way of telling who they
 are..."

A message appeared in the lower left corner of the screen.

Ultramagnus grinned. "ANOTHER dimensional rift... Ultimanium must have his
little friends here.. J2. Center on the nearest dimensional rift."

The probe took flight from its position high above Arni, and recentered its
vision on a beach a short distance from the village. The lens on the base of
the probe whirred for a second and zoomed in.

"It's that squirrel that Ultimanium was with... funny... could he... how did
he get here? Regardless... he has to be a Chosen. I'd better keep an eye on
him. J2. Keep a lock on your current target."

"Affirmative. Biomass confirmed. Sentry?" The J2 bleeped out.

 "Sentry."

The J2's boosters hummed to life. The probe recentered itself every couple
of seconds on Conker's position below.

 ********

I awoke the next morning. No one seemed to understand what I had went
through that night - it was like I was being controlled by some force. I had
no respect for my own life,
everybody said I just ran out to the beach and sailed out into the heart of
a hurricane for no given reason.

 But there was a reason.

The probe was dragging me out to sea for some purpose. I had to find it,
find what it wanted. I flopped down on my bed and gazed out the window onto
the now calm seas. The probe, the J3 was out there, and it wanted me, Serge.
For what? Maybe I'll never know. I'll never know if I don't look.

I hopped off my bed and ran downstairs and outside, down to Opassa Beach. It
was drawing me there, like it had drawn me near to my death.

 ********

Conker walked into the town square. Fish remains lied throughout the paths
of Arni, the greatest of which was the massive 12-foot fish skeleton that
hung above the archway leading off to the village elder's hut.

"Ecch. Someone's got a fetish," Conker sighed. "Could it be something OTHER
than dead stuff?" He had trouble adapting to the smell that radiated from
the gutters, but he began ambling off towards the elder's hut. Radius sat on
 the porch, as usual.

Conker looked up. "Eh, excuse me. Is this Arni Village?"

"As far as I believe," Radius replied. "Can I help you with something?"

Conker tapped his sides. "I imagine this is a relatively small village,
 right?"

 "Yes."

"Do you know someone here named 'Serge'?"

Radius stood up. "Why, yes I do, as a matter of fact. Back out in the
square, second hut on the left."

Conker turned and waved. "Thanks." He stepped out back into the bustling
square, only to get hit by the stench of dried fish again.

"Damn it! Clean the fricking place up, people!" Conker held his nose as he
checked the side of the path and found Serge's house. He climbed up the
wooden ramp that led into the adobe and stepped in. "Whoa, the place is
pretty big for a thatched roof..." Conker waded through the bootroom,
dodging the junk that sat on tables on both sides of him.

Conker cupped his hands. "Someone here named Serge?" He yelled.

 No response.

Conker sulked. "Oh well. I'll just head back to the J3 and try some other
 time."

 ********

I could sense it, feel its presence. It warmed my heart as I cleared another
hill and sprinted down the hill onto Opassa Beach. I turned and darted off
into the distance where the probe lied. It had probably washed up onto the
beach during the storm, which wasn't to say it hadn't taken some beating.
Small dents lined the surface of the probe.

I was here. What was I doing? I just stood there. I tried to move, yet a
force stopped me. It wanted me to wait for something.

 "Hey! Heey!! Don't touch that!"

Who is this now? The probe seems to take him toward tranquility.. and it
doesn't want me to take action toward him.

 ********

Conker fell over, wheezing from the long run. "Hands off, buddy! This is
 delicate equipment here!"

 ********

Who the hell... who would've figured. A talking squirrel. In a trenchcoat.
Waving around an automatic machine gun. Alright, I have to REALLY get away
 from this probe.

 ********

Conker pointed the uzi at Serge. "What the hell, never seen a talking
squirrel before, eh? Now, move away before I'm forced to..."

He dropped the uzi to his side. "Wait... are you... Serge?"

 ********

And the freak knows me, too. This isn't good.

"Yes, I'm Serge," I sighed. "How do you know me?"

"I'm Conker. Nice to meetcha." Conker stretched out an open hand. I
 nervously shaked it.

Conker glanced at the damaged probe. "I see you've ran into the J3."

"Do you know about it?" I asked. "It's like I've been having this impulse to
 find it.. figure it out..."

"The J3 is with me," Conker explained. "The impulses you've been having to
retrieve the J3 were programmed in to radiate when activated. It was a way
to get you closer to the J3, so we could beam you aboard the Argetlahm."

 "Argetlahm?"

Conker slapped his forehead. "I'm getting ahead of myself here... okay,
Serge, you had an adventure not too long ago. You crossed dimensions,
 correct?"

"Er.. yes. Why do you ask?"

"Alright, let me get this straight. The dimensions are in trouble again. A
whole lot of them. Some freak by the name of Ultramagnus has the technology
under his possession necessary to traverse dimensions. Right now we believe
he's massing an army to take over the remaining five dimensions inhabitable
by man. I was taken under the wing of a man named Ultimanium, who currently
watches over this dimension from the starship Argetlahm. He is gathering
heroes from across the dimensions for a task force to strike at Ultramagnus.
He believes you might have what it takes."

I grinned. Finally, an adventure. Another crack at fate is what I live for.

 "I'm up for that."

Conker smiled. "Great. There are two more people from this dimension that
 Ultimanium wishes to see..."

The display lit up on the J3 and it choked out a small slip of paper. Conker
swiped it off the printer slot and showed it Serge. "This woman."

 No! Could it be... yes...

 It was Kid.

"Kid?! Do you know where Kid is in this dimension?!" I shouted.

Conker sat down on the sand. "Not really. The Argetlahm's geoscanners showed
that she was in Arni area recently... that woman who saved you off of the
raft... there was Leena... and then there was Kid," Conker turned to me.
"Does Kid live anywhere near here?"

I shrugged. "She doesn't live on this continent. I know that for sure."

"Well," Conker asked. "If she doesn't live here, where would she go to get
 off the continent?"

"There's a small port city north of here, Termina. She would have to go
 there to catch a boat."

Conker pushed himself to his feet. "Well, what are we waiting for, then? We
 have to catch her!"

Him and Serge broke into a run, then a sprint. They had to get to
Termina.... but not if an infamous Super Saiyan had anything to say about
 it.

 ********

Ultramagnus smirked. "Well, well... our friends are running off to
 Termina..."

He turned to a buttoned panel on his desk, and tapped the bottommost button.
 "24! Get in here!"

After a couple minutes pause, the double doors at the other end of the room
swung open. A blond man with a mustache stepped in, dressed in a karate
 suit.

"24. We have a problem. Our friends Conker and Serge are headed towards the
port city of Termina on Arni continent. I want you to make sure they don't
get there. If you can't do that much, make sure they don't get to Kid at all
 costs."

24 bowed his head. "Affirmative, sir. I will stop Serge and Conker at all
costs. For you, master." He turned and left the room.

Ultramagnus turned his swivel chair toward the window. Nice try, Conker.
You're not getting out of this one alive...

 END OF CHAPTER 2

Karsh drummed his hands on the cafe table. Opassa Beach awaited. He couldn't
just sit around and wait for it to come to him. Yet, still, it came to him
slowly that his destination was not there. He would just sit tight and wait
for things to clear up. Why? Hell if he knew. It was just another impulse to
him. Unbeknowest to him, it was an artificial one. It's not like he wanted
to be there, in Termina. He could've been on his way to Opassa Beach over an
hour ago, but something held him down.

He stuck his hand up. "Waiter? Some coffee."

A dressed man came with a kettle and poured the walnut-black liquid into the
mug ahead of Karsh. The foreign power made him lift it up and take a sip
from it. Hopefully, he thought, this entire mess could clear up. Like, fast.

 ********

Ultimanium watched on. The fifth dimension display caught his eye once
again. Another dimensional rift opened halfway between Termina and Arni, in
 a small pathed crevice.

"What could that be...? It's not Ultramagnus for sure, its power level is
 too low... but still..."

 ********

I looked over again. Conker was struggling to carry the oversized machine J3
 with him.

"Hey," I questioned. "You need some help there?"

Conker glanced up at me. "Oh, sure. That'd be great. Hang onto this for me."

He passed the J3 to me. I bent down and lifted it up to a respectable height
and we continued walking. The mountains along us became more jagged as we
 continued.

I knew this place. "We'll be entering Fossil Canyon pretty quick. Be on
 guard."

The J3 lit up. "Conker!" It crackled out. "Are you there?"

Conker tapped the probe. "Yeah, Ulty. What's going on?"

"The Argetlahm is picking up a moderate-large power level ahead of you. It
just appeared out of a dimensional anolomy a couple of minutes ago. I'm
guessing it's one of Ultramagnus' henchmen. Be on the lookout, and make sure
the J3 doesn't get harmed. It's your only ticket out of here."

Conker grit his teeth. "Man... okay, we'll watch out." The display blacked
 out.

"What was that about?" I asked.

"Ultramagnus might have deployed some of his posse up ahead. We'd better
 watch it."

"You would mean me?" A monontonous voice hummed.

*Conker and Serge look up the rocky face beside their position and look into
the line of sight of a stranger at the top of the mountain. His deep blue
eyes mesmerize both heroes. He is blond with a mustache, and wearing a
karate gi. He is one of Ultramagnus' top officers, trained in the art of ki
and equipped with an unforgiving AI. People say he is based from the great
scientist Dr. Gero's design, and they'd be right.*

 ANDROID 24 - Cybernetic Commando

 Conker backed up. "Greeeeeat..."

Ultramagnus' voice crackled through the android. "I see you've met my friend
here. This is an android of my personal design. While it doesn't possess the
great speed and strength that Dr. Gero's creations provided, I advise you
not to underestimate its power. Go forth, my creation, and tear these little
 bastards to shreds!!"

"Excellently put, master," The android continued. "I shall tear these
 bastards to shreds."

"Dr. Gero? Who the hell is Dr. Gero?" I shouted.

"We'll talk about it with Ulty after," Conker said, a bit nervously. "We
have to worry about tin-can man here."

Android 24 dove off the cliff and lunged straight down at me. It must have
not noticed that it didn't have the element of surprise. I quickly dove and
rolled out of the way of the flying android, who crashed a fist straight
into the ground where I stood. I brought up my Mastermune in time to parry a
fist from it. I rapidly swung the swallow into new positions to deflect the
rush of punches and kicks the android flung at me.

Conker opened fire with his dual uzis while the android was distracted, but
to no avail. Many of the shells deflected harmlessly off of the android's
 heavy metal casing.

"Guns," The android moaned, devoid of expression. "Not equal at all."

 Conker sweatdropped. "Uh oh."

 "Fire blasters."

The right fist of the android fell to the ground. Underneath it were several
dozen tiny laser cannons. They began charging.

I had to act fast. I reached into the depths of mind to activate an Element.
I quickly cast Strongminded several times on Conker, and nearly buckled over
in unconsciousness. I tried to regain control of myself. I hadn't used
Elements in rapid succession for an extremely long time, so the energy
required to cast such spells drained me fast.

A flurry of blasts of light flew from the android's hand and pelted away at
the Strongminded shield that surrounded Conker. Using this chance, I dove at
it and slashed once hard across his back. It noticed, however, and jaunted
forward. The slash that had meant to bust its spinal shaft worked only to
establish a rift across its back. Sparks shot from the massive gap in the
 android's back.

 ********

Ultramagnus shot up in his chair. "Damn it! He's not going to hold out much
longer if that area is short of power! J2! Bring 24 back, now!"

 ********

A beam fell from the sky and enveloped 24. "Do not think you have defeated
me. My master will soon have me back in working order and you shall all pay
for what you have done." With a flash, the beam and the android were gone.

Conker shook his head. "I'm not even going to ask."

The J3's display lit up. "What happened?" Ultimanium asked. "I didn't think
you were going to be done with Android 24 so fast. Well done, Serge."

I scratched the back of my head. "Er... sure. The android said back there
that he was based on a design from a guy named Dr. Gero. Who is he?"

"Dr. Gero was a prominent scientist in the third and fourth dimensions,"
Ultimanium explained. "He made great advances in the field of AI and
military weaponry. You can imagine what those two melded together to create.
In this dimension, however, he died at the age of 8 from food poisoning.
That's why you don't see any other androids running around. Enough of that,
proceed. Termina lies ahead, and you have to find Kid as fast as possible
before Ultramagnus sees any need to intervene further. Serge, Conker. I'm
 counting on you guys."

Conker brushed his forehead. "No prob. Hey, Serge, you comin'?"

 "As always."

"Good," Ultimanium said. "I'll just leave you to your business then. Later."
 The display blacked out.

 ********

Ultimanium cracked his knuckles. "Great. If they run into no more
interferences, they should find Kid and Karsh within the next 8 hours. The
geoscanners show Karsh in Termina limits, so it can't be long. Lord Raul."

Raul looked up from a computer terminal. "Yeah?"

"Begin making preperations to transverse the Ultimatum crew. Make Davis
Motomiya, Veemon, Takeru Takashi, Patamon, Kari Kamiya, Gatomon, Taichi
Kamiya, Agumon, Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cloud, and Squall your highest
 priority."

 "How about the Gundam pilots?"

Ultimanium hung his head. "They are best suited in their Gundams than any
other mobile suit. There's no way we can get things that mass through the
dimensional gate. If they were to come, no matter how we would outfit them,
they would be at a direct disadvantage."

Raul rubbed his chin. "Ah, I see. I guess... no matter. I'll get on the job
as soon as the J3 gets back."

Ultimanium turned back and looked on into space through the massive
plexiglass dome that surrounded the capship Argetlahm's bridge. "Whatever.."

 ********

Conker climbed up the stairs leading into the square of Termina. He looked
around him at the various shops and stands that lined the streets. People
plodded up and down the paths, stepping into/out of shops. A statue stood at
the very top of the open area. It was nightfall, and I was interested in
getting some shuteye. Apparently, so was Conker. "So this is..."

"Yes," I sighed. "This is Termina. Hey, can you ask Ultimanium if Kid is
 still here?"

"Yeah, sure." Conker's fingers danced around the interface of the machine.
Ultimanium's face took its normal appearance as it blinked onto the screen.
 "Yes, Conker?"

"Hey, Ulty. Me and Serge were wondering if you could tell us if Kid is still
in Termina. If so, can you get an accurate reading as to where she is?"

"She is still in Termina," Ultimanium announced. "However, the geoscanners
are generally inaccurate, so I can't give a definite location. I would guess
that she would be bunking here for the night."

Conker grinned. "Great, we got our sleep time."

"Also, be on the watch for Karsh. The geoscanners show him in your recent
vincinity. If you can get him right away, that would make your job a lot
 easier."

"Karsh?" I asked. "Is he another of the Chosen?"

"Yeah," Conker said. "You know him?"

"He was with us on an adventure..."

"Against the Time Devourer. Don't bother explaining, Ultimanium already ran
 me through it."

That struck me. "How does he know...?"

Conker rolled his eyes and waved. "You'd be surprised how much he knows
 about things."

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go get Karsh!" I made a beeline toward
the cafe. I had that strange Serge-like vision that Karsh was there.

 ********

Ultramagnus turned on the receiver. "Is Android 24 nearly finished?"

A picutre of a small maintenance robot appeared on the topleft monitor.
"He'll be alright, sir. It was just a slash to the back and easy to seal. If
you want him to last, I suggest you don't send him out on his own."

"Shut the hell up, Minonim. I have perfectly suitable ideas what I do with
my troops. Piss off and do your job."

 "Y-yes, sir."

Ultramagnus slammed his clenched fist down on the tropical wood desk,
deactivating the monitor. He knew what he was doing. It was just a slight
miscalculation that proved him defeated against Serge, and he wasn't going
to make that mistake again. Scowling to himself, he knew just exactly what
 he was going to do.

The monitor flipped on again. A cowering Minonim shook in the corner of the
 screen.

 "MINONIM!!"

The robot flinched. "Yes, s-sir... what.. is it..." he sputtered.

Ultramagnus broke out into an evil grin. "Turn on 24 Level 2."

 "Yes, sir."

The monitor turned off again. No sir, Ultramagnus WASN'T going to make the
 same mistake twice...

 ********

"Excuse me, sir. We close in 5 minutes."

"Er, yes sir." Karsh stuttered. He slowly rose to his feet. Finally, he
 thought to himself. Some action.

Karsh stumbled outside, with some overly exaggerated steps. When he got
outside and the door closed behind him, he braced himself on the wall next
to the door of the cafe. What am I doing? He wiped some sweat off his brow.
There was a reason for all of this. He just couldn't quite grasp it.

 ********

"Karsh!!" I yelled from off in the distance, waving. I ran over to Karsh's
 position against the cafe wall.

"...hyah?" Karsh mumbled. He looked up to me. "S-Serge?! Is that you?"

 "Yeah," I stated.

"What are you doing in Termina?"

Conker stepped in next to Serge. "We need to have a talk."

"Someone spike my coffee?" Karsh muttered.

"No, I really am a talking squirrel," Conker groaned. "Now, listen. I need
to talk to you about something serious here. You've been having some weird
 impulses lately, right?"

"Well, why didn't you say so? I was sitting in this cafe for no reason all
afternoon and I was wondering why..."

Conker gestured to the J3. "This probe has psychically instructed you to
remain here. You don't know it, but currently a struggle goes on in the
third dimension against the villian Ultramagnus. A man named Ultimanium is
rallying warriors from across the dimensions for a final strike at him, and
we needed fighters fast. The J3 helps me locate these heroes and solve the
affairs of finding them myself. Are you game?"

Karsh was apparently drinking while bored. "Hell.. yeah!"

"You have the Rainbow Axe anywhere near here?" I asked.

Karsh took the axe, leaning on the wall of the cafe. "Sure, right here."

Conker hopped up. "Great! Now that we have Karsh, Kid'll be easy to find. I
say we head and grab some shuteye before we go any further. It's not like
any boats are going to leave the place at this time of night."

I shrugged. Yeah, I was starting to get tired too. As much as I tried to
fight off the urge to walk off and look for Kid myself, my fatigue took
 over. "Sure."

So we went and took our rest... but that android... yeah, he was going to
 cause trouble.

 Lots of it.

 END OF CHAPTER 3

Me, Conker and Karsh plodded slowly down the street, ducking into shops
occaisionally to check out the wares, sometimes whether that woman in the
window was Kid... we didn't have much luck. It was getting into the late
afternoon and we had made no discoveries of any sort.

Conker seated himself on the curb. "I can't believe this. You think Ulty
would give me some kind of help if he wanted Kid back there so bad.."

Karsh glanced down the street. "No prob. We still have the east district to
search. We haven't run out of luck yet. Hey, Conker.. would there be any
chance this Ultimanium would come down here and search with us?"

"Nope. He says this is my test. I gotta do this myself if I want a position
 on Ultimanium's Battalion."

"Whoa," I laughed. "Sucks to be you."

Conker buried his head in his hands. "You're telling me."

Karsh pointed off around the corner. "Hey, the bazaar's up ahead. She's
gotta be there somewhere if she was passing the time."

Passing the time. Normally she would have left this morning, but a freak
electrical storm the night before had kept all the departing ships there in
the morning, and there was little chance that any of them would get out in
the afternoon. She would have to wait for late night if she had any hopes of
leaving Termina. Clearly a helping hand from Ultimanium, but I had a hard
time pointing that out to Conker and Karsh.

I twirled the Mastermune on an open hand. "Let's go."

Conker stood up and walked alongside us. The J3 hovered around an
 intersection and joined us.

I stepped forward. "Any results, J3?"

"Negative. No sightings of Chosen Kid have been recorded since last
 command."

As soon as I sulked, the J3's screen lit up. "Any results?" Ultimanium
 sighed.

 Everybody shook their head.

"Well... Conker. It doesn't look like you're having much luck. You have only
8 hours remaining - I need you to find Kid, the earlier the better. As long
as Ultramagnus knows Kid and you guys are in this dimension, he's going to
be targeting her. Here's a hint."

Ultimanium blinked off the screen. The display was replaced with a green
background. A ring radiated from the centre of the screen every couple
 seconds.

Conker grinned. "A sonar! We've GOT to be able to find her now!"

 ********

Kid picked up the pear and examined it. After some speculation, she dropped
a couple G into the hands of the salesman and walked off with it. "Yeeeah...
Termina's just how I remember it..." She dipped into her pockets and removed
a piece of paper with hasty scribblings inscribed on it. Termina West Dock
3A. 6:00 PM. "Not much longer... I can get out of here and return home
 before Serge gets suspicious..."

 A monontonous voice hummed. "Kid."

Kid peered above the shoulders of the crowd around her. Off in the distance
a blond man with a mustache stood at least a foot taller than everybody in
 the square.

 "Yeah? What?" Kid shouted.

 "Kid."

Kid paused and stared nervingly at the mysterious man. "Eh... these people
 are freaking me out..."

 ********

Conker tapped another set of keys into the J3. "....holy.... we've got it!!"

 "Got what?" Karsh muttered.

Karsh, Conker and I huddled around the J3's display. Off in the distance a
white dot blinked whenever the sonar wave washed over it. "It's Kid. We have
 to go and get her!"

"DANGER! Gero Chassis spotted ahead. Proceed with caution."

 "No way!.." I gasped.

Conker stamped his foot on the ground. "Damn it! It's that fricking android
again! C'mon, guys! Step on it! We have to get to Kid before 24 does!" He
dropped the J3 where he stood and barreled into the crowd, shoving people
out of the way as he fought to the center of the square. Me and Karsh
 followed in hot pursuit.

 ********

24 began to approach Kid. She began backing away.

"I was thinking I shouldn'tve worn this outfit," She sighed. "Alright, back
off, I'm armed..." She unsheathed her dagger and held it above her head. 24
 kept coming.

 "Kid..."

"Alright!! BACK OFF!! What in bloody hell do you want?!"

 ********

Karsh flung himself into the group of people ahead of him, knocking an
entire family down in his wake. "Sorry, folks, public emergency."

Different people gave him dirty looks and scowled. I shoved ahead of him and
made my way up towards Conker. "...Hey! Conker! I see her!

 Kid swung around. "Serge?!"

24 saw his chance. In the period of less than a second, it dove straight at
Kid, an arm held high ready for a heavy strike. Still not fast enough for
me. I lunged out from the crowd with the good 'ol Dash&Slash and the cold
steel of the Mastermune met 24, if not with a slight miscalculation. The
flat end of the blade flew forth and nailed 24 in the face, sending him
flipping. With near-superhuman reflexes, his hands hit the ground and he
flipped several times to safety and came down gracefully on his feet.

"Serge," 24 rattled. "I will not stand for this." He resumed his assault,
but in my direction. I held up the Mastermune and prepared to parry his
blows. I deflected a punch and a roundhouse kick, but he was speeding up. I
used both hands to block his next blow, but he hit the ground and swept me
out from underneath. I landed on my elbow on the hard asphault below,
jarring it. Karsh leaped in and brandished 24 across the back of the head
with an axe handle, sending him falling on me. I flipkicked him off and onto
the street behind me. Again, he softened the hard road's blow by bracing
with his hands. He was surely not going down as easy as he had before.

Conker threw his hands together and sacked the android on the back of the
head, sending him stumbling forward. Karsh began to bat him away with the
axe, then spun and slashed the robot across the chest. Shards of metal fell
to the street. In an enraged impulse, if androids had such, 24 threw an arm
into Karsh's gut, sending him flying back and through a shop window.

Conker stopped. "Er.." Another elbow from the machine threw him back into
the cinder block building behind him.

Kid dug through her pockets. She pulled out several large darts. "Heh...
wondered where these went.." The projectiles glowed red. She swung her hands
behind her, both wielding at least a dozen darts, and focused her energy
into her accuracy. She took a deep breath, and crossed her arms back in
front of her quickly, sending a wave of flaming darts at the occupied
 Android.

 "Red Piiiiin!!" I yelled.

The missiles cleared through the air. Several lined the wall around the
robot, but the majority of them dove forward and pierced straight through
the chest of the surprised android, sending more tattered metal to the
 ground.

 ********

 "Urrrggghh!!!! IMPOSSIBLE!!" Ultramagnus screeched.

 ********

I was really getting into the fight. As the battle surrounded me, I felt
that normal surge of adrenaline start to take place. Adrenaline is not
really beneficial.. not unless you know to use it to complement your
planning and feelings. I took the fight into my mind. Use the power you've
 been given...

I slowly began to rose into the air as Conker, Karsh and Kid exchanged blows
with 24. I held the Mastermune to my side, knowing it would be used best
there. Concentrating hard, the proverbial ball of pure Chi formed above my
head. I woke up from my trance and began to focus the energy on the
adversary below. You gotta let it all out... defy fate.

I crossed my arms and threw them back out to my side harshly. The
accumulated raw psychic energy finally let loose its fury and exploded
violently sending a beam of light and an accompanying shockwave along the
 ground at 24.

Though androids are designed to be emotionless, I could sense the fear
radiating from its volatile emotion control. Conker, Karsh, and Kid backed
away from the android to reveal a gaping hole in its chest. The android,
finally losing its life energy, hit the ground with an echoing thud.

I slowly lowered myself to the ground, and latched myself onto a wall and
tried to regain my thought. Luminaire really takes it out of you.

Conker stepped away from the devastated android. "...ouch."

Karsh put his hands on his sides. "That was cool as it always is. I wish I
 could do that."

Kid returned her dagger to its sheath and dusted her hands off. "Heh... ass
couldn't last... there's another arse kicked to the moon." She turned to
Serge. "Now... Serge. What are you doing here? I didn't think you would've
figured out it was me who saved you.."

I grimaced. "Who said I did?"

Conker stepped forward. "You're Kid, right?"

Kid threw a fist against her chest. "Always have been, mate."

"I bet you're wondering what Serge is doing here at a time like this...
 actually, he's with me."

Kid placed a hand on her hip. "What are you?"

"My name's Conker. Pleased to meet you. Anyways, Serge and Karsh are here
with me in Termina on a very important mission. You work hard to keep the
 dimensions in line, right?"

 "Hell yeah."

Conker folded his arms. "The dimensions are not as secure as you think right
now. Right now some guy named Ultramagnus has possession of technology that
 makes transmission between dimensions possible."

 Kid gazed on. "You're kidding."

"Nope. A guy named Ultimanium, however, is throwing together warriors from
across the dimensions in an attempt to fight off Ultramagnus. He's got
access to the same technology and he won't stop until Ultramagnus bites it."

"So you're suggesting I should come along on your little quest?"

Conker turned to me and Karsh. "I know these two are coming. How about you
 come along for the ride?"

Kid looked around her. "Well... I was really hoping to get some rest after a
little ordeal like this... but, hey, what the hell. Can I deny a guy like
 Serge?"

Good old Kid. Never let me down, yet.

Conker tapped a number into the J3. "Hey, Ulty. I got your cargo."

Ultimanium appeared onscreen. "Excellent. Lord Raul will be beaming you
aboard shortly. Just sit tight and enjoy the ride."

Kid shifted an eyebrow. "Beam us aboard...?"

Conker grinned. "Hope you're used to space travel."

A bright yellow beam shot down from the sky and enveloped the entire group.
When Kid blinked... she couldn't quite believe where she was.

 ********

Ultimanium sat down at the table, alongside Lord Raul. "Welcome."

 Everybody waved.

"Conker... well done. I shall see to it you are given a prominent position
 on the bridge."

 Conker grinned. "Sweeeet..."

Ultimanium turned to my group. "Now, you may all be wondering where you are.
I will explain all of you your mission and your purpose aboard the Argetlahm
tomorrow. I believe you all had an excrutiating day today. You need some
rest. As well, by tomorrow I will have the Ultimatum personnel aboard the
ship - warriors selected from among the galaxy to fight alongside us in the
battle against Ultramagnus. Everybody report to your bunks, and good night."

Ultimanium stood up and returned to his seat at the front of the bridge. As
everybody stood up and made their way into the turbolift in the corner of
the massive hall, I sat still and thought. Thought about where the Argetlahm
 was headed from here.

And the friends I would have.

 Ultramagnus is going down.

*Davis tosses the script down and brushes his hands off*

Davis : And that is that.

Keyvan : Allllriiiiiiiiight!!!! I can start the Argetlahm Adventures!

Davis : (jumping up and down) and I star!

Veemon : (jumping up and down next to Davis) and I co-star!

(A/N - That's right people, the pivotal moment has come -

Ultimatum 2 - The Argetlahm Adventures!!

The Ultimatum crew, Serge, Karsh, Kid, Conker, Berri, Rodent, Ultimanium and
Lord Raul are all coming aboard the Argetlahm to plan their attacks on
 Ultramagnus' dimension...

 ....

I take it you've got nothing from here.

To that extent... if you really want to read it, I will have a total recap
of the Ultimatum Saga so far in the first chapter of the Argetlahm
Adventures, as well as an explanation on the J2/J3 and the theories of all
 this dimension-jumping stuff.

The Argetlahm Adventures are being composed by me to look more as an epic
than a romp involving various anime/game characters. While the
action/adventure/humor rating is still in effect, you can expect some
chapters to give a little more insight on the characters... expect some
drama, some romance, an MST partway through if fate allows.... some chapters
will give some vision on Ultramagnus' apocalyptic dimension... so don't be
surprised to see an angsty chapter somewhere in the mix. I'll see. (no, I'm
 serious.)

I should have the first chapter of the Argetlahm Adventures on within a
week... until next time... Keyvan Chandonnet signing off! And see you on the
 Argetlahm!!

 Sincerely,
 Keyvan Chandonnet

Preview of Ultimatum 2: The Argetlahm Adventures (Part 4 of the Ultimatum
 Saga)

Davis took another deep breath and looked up and around him. "W-where am I?"

"Shut up, someone mind telling me where I am?!" Vegeta yelled. He looked
 over and spotted Davis.

"Some kinda starship thingy." Cloud spoke, uneasy.

All of the Digidestined stood up, and stared confusingly at Squall, Cloud,
 Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta.

All of the Z fighters stood up, and stared confusingly at Squall, Cloud,
Tai, Davis, TK, Kari, and Cody.

Squall and Cloud stood up, and stared confusingly at Goku, Gohan, Vegeta,
Tai, Davis, TK, Kari, and Cody.

Tai's eyes grew wide. "...No way! These are the guys from..."

Goku shifted an eyebrow. "...No way! These are the guys from..."

Squall backed off, he knew what was happening and he hoped Mimi sure as hell
wasn't here. "...No way! These are the guys from..."

 "Yes, the Ultimatum."

Everybody looked around them. They were all standing on the enormous bridge
of the Argetlahm, on a circular floor placing in the center. Pathways parted
from the epicentre of the circle and made their way out to the four corners
of the gigantic command center. A humungous spherical plate of plexiglass
was suspended over their heads. At the very front of the ship, on a
heightened platform, stood Ultimanium and Lord Raul.

 Vegeta clenched a fist. "Ultimanium!!"

Ultimanium stepped forward. "Yes, very much so."

TK looked around him in fear. "What's going on here?!"

Cody remained his neutral state. "I wouldn't mind knowing either."

Ultimanium solemnly shook his head, and began to come up with something.

"Ladies... gentlemen... friends and advocates. You stand now on the bridge
of the Argetlahm, my main base of operations. You, being the warriors of the
Ultimatum, have shown your bravery and faithfulness on the battlefield in
New York. This was just a small part of the greater scheme of things."

Squall bowed his head. "Greater scheme of things... what do you speak of?"

"...everybody..." Lord Raul sighed. "We would like you to get in the
turbolift behind you and head down to the war room, and take a seat. We need
to talk to all of you."
