Kintaro and Kogure This episode starts out with Kintaro settling in to his new job at a noodle shop.  He was hired to take over for the owner because the owner's ( Noriko's father.  Her family runs the shop ) arm is broken.  Kintaro finds his new job hard but he enjoys it and is learning alot, even though his noodles aren't the best.  Noriko makes her way home from classes and greets everyone and encourages Kintaro to do his best.  Later on in the day, a mercedes pulls up and a nicely dresses man steps into the shop.  This man ( Kogure, or Mr. Kogure as Noriko calls him ) helped Noriko's father when he got hurt.  He stops by to check in them and to see how they are doing.  After some noodles for dinner, he asks Noriko if she would like to go with him to see his company's ship.  Noriko gladly accepts ( she has a crush on Mr. Kogure ).  Later on in the day, Noriko visits Kintaro in his room to decorate his room with flowers.  Noriko is a very avid flower lover.  She confides in Kintaro, that she really wants to arrange flowers for the man she loves.  Kintaro is taken back by this, and is really impressed with Noriko.

     Noriko goes on her date with Mr. Kogure and has a great time.  As the day winds down, Kogure's plan unfoldsNoriko and Kogure cuddle up on the ship and Kogure pops the big question.  He asks Noriko to marry him.  She, of course, is very surprised by this and asks if she could have some time to think about it.  Later that night, Kintaro is just getting done with his bath at the local bath house and he begins to walk back to the shop.  He is surprised to see Mr. Kogure with another woman talking to a Yakuza stooge.  He finds a hiding spot ( in a trash can ) and follows Kogure to his car in a vacant parking lot.  He spys on him and the other woman and finds out something very interesting and troubling.  It turns out, Kogure is using Noriko for the noodle shop.  He wants to marry her, close the shop down and turn it into a bar and divorce her.  Kintaro overhears ( and is writing down ) all of this.  He then gets up and interupts Kogure and the woman's talk.  He begs Kogure not to hurt Noriko or her family like this.  Kogure, not about to stop, proceeds to beat Kintaro into a bloody pulp and threats to actually kill him if he tells anyone about it!  He then takes off in his car and leaves Kintaro there to rot.

White out....   The next day, Kintaro is bruised and battered but is still working.  He observes the Noriko has, indeed, fallen in love with Mr. Kogure.  In Kintaro's words, " She's been deceived by the evil weenie. "  Later that day, Noriko heads out of the house, telling her mom she's going on a date, which angers Kintaro to say the least.  He follows her to the horse track where her and Kogure observe the races from his private box.  He asks her if she has reached a decision but she says she needs more time to think.  Kogure then moves in for the kill and starts moving in on Noriko.  Luckily ( and un-luckily ) , Kintaro is there to put a stop to it.  Kogure starts to unbutton her shirt, which Kintaro buttons right back up.  Kogure then unzips her pant, but Kintaro heads him off.  Unfortunely, Kogure grabs Kintaro's hand thinking it's Noriko's.  He then reaches up and kisses Kintaro!!!  After for what seems like forever for Kintaro, the kiss ends and Kintaro " whites out ".  Noriko ( much to Kogure's surprise, he thought it was her the whole time ) wishes to go home.  Kogure agrees thinking he has done a good job for the day.

   Later that night, Noriko is putting some flowers up in Kintaro's room and asks him but what he thinks of everything.  She wonders if she is being wrong for taking so long to answer Kogure's proposal ( and also wonders why Kintaro is so white. Hehehehe...).  Kintaro jumps in surprise to hear he has proposed.  He asks if she has talked to her parents about it.  She is surpised and backs off thinking she shouldn't have asked him about it.  Kintaro ponders the prospect of someone living with with a pervert like Kogure ( out loud I might add...doh. ), and in the process, angers Noriko.  She says she thought, of all people, she could trust Kintaro with all of this.  She runs out of the room to her own room and wonder why, in fact, she has taken so long.  Noriko then takes off to find Kogure.  She goes to the ship they were at earlier in the episode but no Kogure, but she hears something going on on the bridge leading to the boat.  It turns out, Kintaro has already met with Kogure and is begging him not to hurt Noriko like this.  " Noriko is a kind and sensitive girl who takes everything so seriously! " states Kintaro.  Kogure shrugs him off saying that she is a not what she seems saying " I had that bitch so hot she was moaning like a bitch in heat!!! "  Kintaro is shocked ( he knows what REALLY happened ) and Kogure goes on to say that " She is one perverted bitch. "  Kogure moves forwards but is surprised.  Kintaro looks behind him and sees Noriko.  Kintaro trys to save it by running over to the woman next to Kogure saying that they were talking about her but Noriko isn't buying.  She runs off in tears and Kintaro goes to follow but it pulled aside by a pissed Kogure.  He trys to punch Kintaro but is jacked HARD by Kintaro ( great scene ).

Noriko and Kintaro...beautiful scene    A couple of days later, Noriko's father is almost fully recovered and is making noodles again.  One of the usual patrons asks where Noriko is.  Her says she has come down with a cold and hasn't been feeling good lately.  Later, Kintaro comes up to her room.  He knocks on her door, telling her he is leaving and apologizes for everything that has happened to her.  She opens the door and asks him to come in.  He agrees and Noriko apologizes to for everything and shows him something very special.  Kintaro looks and finds a nice basket of arranged flowers.  Noriko grabs the basket and admits her true feelings for Kintaro saying that she made those flowers with him in mind ( very good scene here ).  Kintaro quietly says that we have to find someone who likes flowers has much as she does.  He says he doesn't even know what the flowers are.  He's many guesses before and all were way off.  This makes Noriko laugh and with a yell by her mother asking Kintaro is he wants some noodles to go back with him, makes her softly cry ( again, great scene ).

    Outside, Kintaro says his goodbyes to the family and rides off.  Noriko begins to follow then stops and she smiles.  We get a brief shot of the arranged flowers that has a note that says " To Mr. Kintaro "  Kintaro rides off closing the episode with the now familar closing " My name is Kintaro Oe and I am 25 years old.  Currently, I am studying about life. "

* Review *

  I really liked this episode.  It is a depature from the usual non stop wackiness that is in most of the tapes.  The interaction between Kintaro and Noriko is really good.  In this episode, you really see that Kintaro isn't just a perverted guy.  He has a huge heart and is really very caring.  We get a look at a different kind of Goldengirl in Noriko.  She's not overly sexy, but she has her own pluses in contrast to the other girls.   Again, both the subbed and dubbed are very very good.  I'm gonna have to recommend the subbed version on this episode more tho for the Japanese VA ( voice actor ) is better at giving off the more serious moments more convincingly.  Not to take anything away from Doug Smith ( Kintaro's english VA ) who does a great job of his own, but the dubbed just gives off something different from the subbed in this episode.  I rate this episode #3 out of the six OAV episodes.  Very very good and seeing Kinatro's other side is very enlighting and makes you fall in love with the character even more.
