>Hey, welcome to the list! I own both ST games, as well as Tsushin and
Hanagumi Columns. I wanna get the anime series when it comes out as well,
and I have fansubbed editions of the first two episodes.<<

The anime OAVs are really pretty nice, though the fourth is the most
exceptional one of them all. The first three are "back story" leading up to the
events of first game, and the fourth basically stands alone with no real
relation to the three that precede it. The fourth OAV serves to fill in the
lack of a missing Oogami-focused episode from the first game- it's dropped
right into the midsummer period (which would place it, chronologically, just
after episode 4 of the game). It's beautifully done.

I can honestly say that there's really little point in ADV coming out with the
first 3 OAVs, as they will mean little if anything to an anime-viewing public
that probably hasn't played Sakura Taisen and probably never will. The first 3
OAVs cater so strongly to fans and cognoscenti (like us <g>) that anyone who
doesn't know the game is going to be baffled or bored. The fourth OAV, however,
seems that it would work for everyone- casual viewers and ST fans alike.
