The Music of Escaflowne - A Girl in Gaia

Yoko Kanno does it again. By blending the most famous elements of the original Escaflowne soundtracks with a new, more tribal feel, Kanno gives A Girl in Gaia a varied score that melds perfectly with the on-screen action. Sora's theme alone manages to define every drop of angst in the film — a daunting task if there ever was one! Also of note are the awe-inspiring Black Escaflowne and the sweet Yubiwa, sung by Maaya Sakamoto (the voice of Hitomi).
