![]() Title:Captain Ginyu: Assault Episodes: 68-70 Retail Price: $24.95 The Good: The Japanese Version(really, that's it) The Bad: Crappy Menus, Minor Pixelation, Only 3 Episodes, No Extras, Swear words have been edited in Subtitles. Comments: Despite the crappiness of this DVD, the Japanese Version did make me a fan of the show again(Just in a different way). The Cover art is nice, but could be better. There should have been more episodes. Episode 67 and 71 would have been nice additions. And No Subtitles in the Opening or Credits?! Where are my previews, where are my eyecatches? Where are the glorious Recaps!? Sacrilage! ![]() Title: Captain Ginyu: Double Cross Episodes: 71-74 Retail Price: $24.95 The Good: The Japanese Version(I find it sad, I have to bring this up. It's not really necessary since that's what it should mainly be bought for), some very good scenes, most episodes of all the DVDs The Bad: No real improvements over the last Disc Comments: Well, there is less editing in the subtitles. But there shouldn't be at all. I still don't like that the Captain Ginyu DVDs have the FUNimation names(Kuririn is Krillin, Saichorou is Guru, and Son isn't there). How horrible. 4 episodes still isn't proper for such a long of a series as Dragonball Z. The Cover art is enough to make you vomit. Maybe FUNimation needs to look at the other Anime Titles that are on DVD, some of their designed looks inspired or has a little something called effort put into it. That menu screen sucks too. The background music(which is their new theme song for those who don't know) is garbage. The episodes should be listed with the Japanese Episodes names and Numbering. After all, this is just a bribe from FUNimation to shut the fans of real DBZ up(it failed, but I'll take the Japanese version anyhow). The chapter selection is horrible. You can only pick what episode you want to start at, and not a certain part. ![]() Title:Trunks: Mysterious Youth Episodes: 118-120 Retail Price: $24.95 The Good: Animted Menus, Background Music in the Menus that doesn't suck, Some Extras(yeah!), Recaps, Subtitles in opening in closings! Chapter Selection has vastly improved! The Names are there! And don't forget Battle Power Infinity! The Bad: 3 episodes; the first one is a filler(albeit with a teary-eyed dream of Goku's return). No Previews or eyecatches. Poorly done cover art. Selecting the Language is a chore. Comments: Well this one came out sort of nice. It could have been much more. The picture quality is excellent. The sound could use some improvement, though. Mono sucks. The designer for the cover art has been revealed. He is Rick Lebo, a man with no imagination or graphics software. I really loved the last episode, actually I liked them all, even the filler one. But, I've noticed that the Dub seems to be taking steps backwards. I saw these episodes when they first aired and I watched a little bit of it for review purposes. I hear things like "I've known Goku since he was 5!"(Bulma said that. How dare you, scriptbutcherers!), and any conversation that takes place between King Cold and Freeza("What's a Goku?", is that supposed to be funny?). Whoever casted King Cold's voice needs to be exiled from civilization. How disrespectful. Selecting Language has been a problem for me. Every time I try to press any direction on the controller, the screen goes into pause. It is usually minutes before I can get things organized. This will be addressed on the Petition. BTW, this is the first item I ordered online. ![]() Title: Trunks: Prelude to Terror Episodes: 121-123 Retail Price: $24.95 The Good: Everything the last disc had. The Bad: Extras, menus, are the same. Some errors in subtitling. Still problems selecting language. Comments: Well, another 3 episode disc. I heard from Dragonball-GT.com a few weeks before the Trunks DVDs came out, that the Episodes on the Burger King tape were going to be included as extras(since there were only 2). Well, they weren't. They better not be releasaed on their own. The menu animations are the same, as is the music. As least make it different. Show scenes from the episodes on the Disc(like Trunks coming at Son Goku with the Sword). I forgot to mention this on Mysterious Youth, but just about all the name and swearing issuses have been addressed, even the suffixes are there! Good job Daimao! But both Trunks DVDs should have been made into(or Fused, if you will) into a superior 6 episode DVD. It's only right. The new cover art could have looked something like this. Look at it Rick Lebo!! You can't handle it! That alone would make even casual fans, and maybe even curious people buy it. They need to fix that language menu badly. I think it's an attempt to keep us from watching the Japanese version. |
