| The first Evangelion Artificially Produced Humanoid Robot, in other words, the proto-type. It is powered by an Electical cable attached to the back. If the cable is disconnected it has an internal battery that will give it nominal power for 5 minutes and 2 seconds, full power for 1 minute and 2 seconds or life support power for 15 hours. Compared to other type models, this unit is the simplest. It has a optical lens for an eye. The first color of this unit was the usual orange color for military proto-type and drill machines but after it was partially destroyed during an Angel attack, the color was changed to blue after the overhaul. Anyway three weeks before the 3rd Angel came and attack Tokyo-3, it went berserk on a failed synchronization test inside Nerv facility 2nd Experiment Facility and was frozen with Berklite until the synchronizaton test with its exclusive pilot: Rei Ayanami was successfully iniatiated several weeks later. Shini Ikari can also (pilot) synchronize with the robot but not as well as Rei. The unit made its first debut on Episode 5 and in battle at Episode 6. It self-destructed along with its pilot, Rei Ayanami, during an Angel attack in Episode 23. |
