Asuka is of course, the pilot of EVA-02 and the second child,and 1/4 Japanese, ??? German, and ??? American.
Asuka came to Japan via Pacific Fleet(UN) with EVA-02 and Ryouji Kaji. Asuka's mother appeared to have
died, and Asuka believes that she will grow up alone, needing no one. Unlike Rei, she is active,
positive, self-motivated, self-assured, self-conscious, outspoken, full of pride(for skills as EVA-02's
pilot), and pretty arrogant. Even though she slapped Shinji during their first meeting, they
look so much like a couple that when Shinji once forgot to fix lunch for them and Asuka blamed him for it,
their fellow classmate Touji said that it was a "quarrel between husband and wife." During Episode 16
(Splitting of the breast) Shinji easily exceeds Asuka's synchronization rate, thus damaging her pride.
Her synchronization rate was then declining quite rapidly, as well as the mental invasion by an Angel
during Episode 22 caused some worries and possibly the change of another EVA-02 pilot.
