Ikari Gendou controls NERV as chief commander, as well as planning for the "Human Aid Project," and part of both SEELE
and the Instrumentality of Man's Project. Even though he is the father of Ikari Shinji, he treats Shinji as a reserve
pilot only, while treating Rei as his own daughter. During a EVA-00 reactivation test, EVA-00 lost control and
Gendou burned his palm to help Rei out of the EVA. Like Rei, he seldom expresses his emotions.Gendo is usually in
the shadows during field operations, giving Misato a free hand to do whatever is necessary to defeat the attacking
Angel. However, she is unaware of his secret plan(s).
