Sapphire is Prince Dimand's younger brother, and was very loyal to his older brother. He got caught up in the power struggle between the Wiseman and Prince Dimand, which eventually led to his demise. Sapphire would often warn his brother that the Wiseman was no good, and upon realizing that the Wiseman was tricking his brother he stole the key card that ran the Black Moon Crystal and went to tell his brother of the Wiseman's treachery. However the Wiseman found out and killed him before he could get to his brother.

In the manga Sapphire is still fairly loyal to his brother and attempts to kill the captured Sailor Moon because he blames her for his brothers weaknesses and the state of the affairs in the future, he however fails. Sapphire eventually becomes so consumed with the powers given to him by the Wiseman that he turns on his brother who subsequently has realized that the wiseman was only using them as pawns. Sapphire attacks Dimand and dimand kills him nearly instantly.
