Feah! And the pope has to breakdance!

Well, the might be the only smart thing I've heard of Irimajiri doing. He
has nothing to loose if ST (and for that matter, Red) stays with Sega, and
everything to loose if he lets them run free. He has set the requirement so
high that he can make a killing if Nintendo actually agrees with this (not
likely IMHO), and if they don't, it'll shut Red up and maintain the status
quo.
Nintendo is already successful with Pokemon, and the Gameboy itself. The GBC
is based off the Famicom, which was also enormously popular. I doubt very
highly that Nintendo will shell out the money in R&D to make their entire
system linkable for just one game series unless they get a HUGE cut of the
profits.
BTW, I agree with Jose that speaking strickly as a gamer (I'm a Saturn fan,
but I owe no loyalty to Sega as a company), having ST on the GBC doesn't
interest me since it's an inferior system given the game. I'm it's nice for
playing on those morning trips on the JR line through Tokyo (or whatnot),
but it'll seriously lack the depth and charm of the console versions.
