There is no furigana actually, but Hatami-san made wrote a very good
message to the list which I hope will help you get over the "Itoshi
no" thing. :)

As for your other question about "Kawai no ...", I think only a few
words can be converted like that and kawaii probably isn't one of
them. However you could probably force it and claim poetic license
or something. In the incident in Japanese class I mentioned before,
the problem was "atataka na" (from atatakai) and we were more
concerned with why the author used na instead of no. In the end,
we were just left with "that's what the author wrote so that's
what it is".
