I guess that's my cue. :) Here are my 10 most favorite Sakura Taisen vocal songs, from the two Kayou Zenshu (BVCH-735 and MJCA-00021) . Anyone who wants to share their top 10, please do so. ^_^ 1. Geki! Teikokukagekidan / Geki! Teikokukagekidan (kai) This is the song that got me hooked on Sakura Taisen, and it's still as rousing as it was the first time I heard it. Overall, I like the two versions about the same; each has their ups and downs. For instance, I'd take Sakura's singing voice over Maria's and Sumire's (that is them singing in Kai, isn't it?), but Kai has some cool guitar stuff, and has the entire Hanagumi speaking the "Watashi-tachi seigi no tameni tatekaimasu..." lines. 2. Ai wa Daiya I love that first chord. ^_^ Kanna and Sumire sound so sweet together at the beginning of the song, that I'm almost sad that it changes pace. But the rest of the song also has a great melody, the tandem singing, and is funny as well, so that makes up for it. 3. Yume no Tsuzuki "Te-i-ko-ku-ka-ge-ki-da-n!" ^_^ 4. Hanasaku Otome It's sweet, it has the six Hanagumi, and evokes fond memories of Sakura Taisen. 5. Miyako no Hanazo I love the percussion. Of all the vocal songs, it stands out because it has the most "traditional Japanese" sound to it. Then again, I know nothing of traditional Japanese music. ^_^; One time I had this song playing from my stereo and computer at the same time, but not exactly synchronized, so the echo was increased, and it sounded really cool. I've got to record that somehow. ^_^ Also, this song makes me think of Ayame instead of Kaede, for some reason. Hmmm. 6. Zettai Unmei no Tango "Crazy dancing Sumire" is at it again. ^_^ The "Shikata nai wa watakushi ga" parts sound familiar, like I've heard the melody or rhythm somewhere else before. 7. Ai Yueni I like the melody, and of course, the parts where Sakura and Maria sing together. 8. Aishi no Janporu When I first listened to the ST2 Kayou Zenshu, this was the only song that I immediately liked, probably because the melody was already familiar from Iris' minigame. Also, I can't explain it, but the overall atmosphere of the song is a bit weird. At times, it seems like a cute song, but at other times it sounds dark, even morbid. I'm sure it would make more sense if I knew Iris was saying. 9. Koi no Hassha Alright The Teigeki Sannin Musume make me go "doki doki". ^_^; Seriously though, I think it's an exciting song. Someday, if I listen to it enough times, I may be able to distinguish between Yuri's and Kasumi's voices. Sometimes I can say "that's Yuri" or "that's Kasumi", and sometimes I'm stumped. 10. All the rest are tied for 10th. ^_^; For the most part, they're too close together for me to say that one is clearly better than the rest, but I think Haru ga Kuru and Kiseki no Kane are two of the better ones. By the way, thanks to Terrence Huey and his CD review page for the translated song titles. I sure couldn't have figured them out myself. Anyone who is intereted in more Sakura Taisen CD info might want to check out Terrence's (http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~hueyt/ ) or Ming's (http://pei.physics.sunysb.edu/~ming/anime/sakura.html) web sites. Lastly, translations would be greatly appreciated! If someone knows where to find them, or is kind enough to translate, please share your knowledge! (BTW, this is slightly off topic, but this link may be of interest: http://www.sitepowerup.com/boycottyahoo/boycottyahoo.htm It seems that Yahoo!Geocities has made a very unpopular change to its Terms of Service.)
