Production IG is the main animation studio of ING's 4 subsidiaries which produces high quality animation for feature films, Original Video Animation (OVA), game and television commercial animation. IG made its impressive debut internationally as the production house of Ghost in the Shell which became the Number 1 Video Sales on Billboard. Ghost in the Shell has also received "The Best Theatrical Feature Film and The Best Director of a Theatrical Feature Film" at The World Animation Celebration of 1997.
Production IG is run by Mitsuhisa Ishikawa who is also the president of its parent company ING Corporation as well as IG-USA and IG-PLUS. Production IG became independent in September 1993 after IG Tatsunoko was founded on December 15, 1987 by Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and Takayuki Goto; this well-known character designer is the vice president of Production IG. IG stands for Ishikawa and Goto.
