The Emerald And Ruby Prince 1
Once upon a time, in a faraway land of the ancient world there lived a cadger named Duo. He was always wandering around the city in search of good fortune. Who knows what luck he might encounter. One day, after a sudden flood, the whole city was left covered with mud and slime. On that very day, after the unbidden calamity, the cadger had a stroke of good fortune. While he was walking back to his wreck cottage, he accidentally stepped on something hard in the dirt. He caught sight of a bright, luminous emerald stone. He quickly picked it up and examined it. Gradually, his eyes began to shimmer. He was very happy and thus he sang and danced joyfully to his heart content.
“Oh, boy! Yahoo! A glowing stone…Hmm…I wonder if this thing’s for real or is it plastic?” Duo thoroughly scrutinized it again, this time he placed it in between his teeth to experiment it.
“Is…heal…oh’hight…ouch!” A few of his precious teeth dropped to the ground.
Duo hurried off to visit his fellow friends who worked as the royal cooks in the imperial kitchens. He had not eaten any good foods in months. He was thinking of redeeming the emerald stone with some expensive meals. He began to form a vivid image of the foods, which made his mouth water.
“Nghehehe,” a mischievous grin plastered all over his face.
Duo continued on running, not even bother to look where he was heading. The only real thought in his mind was to get to his prize. Duo was gleefully running and bouncing and he seemed to be greeting every passerby, regardless who they were. He greeted the butcher, greeted the kids, greeted the cats and ever a toddler in a possessive mother’s arms.
“G’ morning! G’day!…hello…hi” everyone was at odd and they eyed him suspiciously. Has he gone mad!
“Wuz, wrong with him?” asked one of the villagers, Yukina to the butcher.
Wufei, the butcher made his way outside his shop and scratched his head,” I really don’t know, but what he did was really DISHONORABLE!” Everyone fell to the ground with their feet in the air.
Wufei sweat dropped,” Umm…What’d, I say?”
“I think…”Wufei trailed his sentence.
“What?” Yukina looked at the butcher expectantly.
“I think…uh…I…I…”
“Yes! Yes?”
“I think I have to use the bathroom!” Once again, the whole villagers collapsed to the ground.
As for Duo. He was still circling the village in search for the royal kitchen. He really did not realize that this was the second journey he made around the village and he had already passed by the royal kitchen a couple of times. He he.
‘Man…my feet hurts, how long does it takes to get there. Fried chicken, fried chicken…Oh, yeah!’ Duo one again lost in trance.
He then came to a halt somewhere in the middle of the city. There was alley on both side of him. What made him stopped was the sound of a bloodcurdling scream coming from the dark side of the alley. Duo didn’t move at first, he wanted to make sure that what he heard was no illusion.
“Ahhh…let me go!” There it was again.
Duo recoiled from his position, so he was standing at the entrance of the small passageway. He snuck a peek to see what was happening.
“You beast…I said let go of me…or…or,”
Duo was surprised to see a women or rather a girl with long vermilion hair, struggling to escape from the death gripped of a monster. The monster was gargantuan, with massive shoulder, two-pointed horn and a pair of black wing. One of it was badly damaged however. In the hurly-burly of the city, no one seemed to notice his existence, moreover this. As Wufei would put it, what the monster was doing is “dishonorable”.
“Don’t worry lady…Robin H…I mean Duo Hood is here to save you!”
Duo was about to make his presence notice but then he felt like as if a hurricane had run through him. He didn’t even have the chance to make a first step, when he was flatten to the solid surface, covered with dirt and mud. (eww)
“Awww!! That hurts!!” Duo yelped, running his hand on his neck to smooth the sore spot.
Duo gently lifted himself of the ground and wiped the slime of his eyes. His vision was a bit blur at that moment so he was forced to stress his adjustments to get a better view. Duo couldn’t believe what he saw. He smacked his head a few times to see whether or not he was daydreaming. The monster was still in front of him but this time without the girl. The red headed girl was flung to the wall and she was out cold. Duo eyed the beast suspiciously. It was acting rather peculiar.
“Who gave him sake? Why in the world is he fighting himself for?” Duo fumbled over his thoughts.
The monster was trashing and tossing about. Eventually Duo decided to he must risked going to the other end to save the girl while he still can. The red head seemed to be unconscious. Duo started to walk slowly with the tip of his toes. He constantly watched the monster’s every movements, once in a while checking on the girl. Then at one point, he actually catches a glimpse of something red, sparkling and it was moving in an incredible speed just like the wind. The red glistering light hovered in the air, surrounding the beast. It was like as if the light was attacking the monster.
“Huh?!…” Duo’s jaw dropped.
