“Huh?…”Duo’s
jaw dropped. Then Duo remembered about his own new founded treasure. He broke his trance and delved into his right pocket but unfortunately, the stone was nowhere to be found. “Ekkk…where’d
it go? Where’d it go!” Duo searched through his other pockets but it
was still the same. He was apprehensive at the thought of loosing the
only treasure he possessed. He still couldn’t accept the fact that it
was gone so he fumbled through his clothing again and again, completely
forgetting the red headed girl. “This
can’t be happening…first the monster and then this!!” Duo
shrieked. Suddenly
a strange, luminous red light radiated the dark alley. Duo stopped dead
in his track. He paused momentarily and lifted his head. There in front
of him, stood a boy dressed in black tunic with black, spiky hair. Duo regarded the boy silently, not uttering a single word.
The monster was already dead, chopped into small pieces. Duo’s eyes
widen and he was gaping. The boy in black paid no attention to him, his
only reason to attack the monster was because of the red headed girl. Abruptly
a strange feeling flashed into Duo’s mind, it struck him like
lightning which made him turn pale. The boy was intruding his mind. He
sent Duo a message,’ Listen carefully beggar!’ “What!!
Beggar? I AM NOT A BE…” The boy eyed him vindictively from the other
end. ‘Shut
up and listen. My name is Hiei and I am the embodiment of the ruby you
stole!’ He said in a dangerously low voice. “Whoaa…Hey!
Hey! Wait a minute! I didn’t STEAL that darn ruby okay!
I found it lying on the ground, so I picked it up. That means
I’m now the official owner of the ruby!” Duo tried to make a stand
and to prove that he was not guilty. ‘Hn…no
one has the right to own the ruby accept for one person.’ Hiei stated
gravely. “Oh…and
the person is me right?” Duo grinned maniacally till his mouth reaches
his eyes. Hiei
ignored the silly grin Duo was giving him. He turned around in slaw
motion, facing the unconscious read head, ‘Do you see that boy over
there?’ Hiei look at the unconscious red head solemnly, a gleam of
despondency in his eyes. “…”
Boy? What boy? Duo moved his head from side to side. ‘Baka!
That boy over there!’ Hiei pointed to the red headed boy, fuming. “Wh…What?!
She’s a BOY? Boy in drag?” Duo couldn’t believe his ears. The girl
was actually a boy and a pretty one for that matter. ‘Enough
of your nonsense beggar! After this you will take him to your cottage
and tend to him! Understand?’ Hiei said in a low voice with a little
hint of spiteful intimidation. Duo
who was still gaping, resembled a gold fish could only stared at the boy
without uttering a word. Even after Hiei called him a ‘beggar’. He
was rendered speechless. So many things happened in one single day and
he was not sure if he could handle it all at once. ‘OI,
NINGEN!!! SNAP OUT OF IT!!’ Hiei barked abruptly “Wahhhh!…”
Duo practically jumped five feet off the ground and his hair sticking
up. Duo was knocked back to reality, rubbing his eyes. He blinked twice
but the image of the girl,…um…boy was still there. He pinched
himself, “Ouch!” ‘Idiot
beggar!’ Duo
looked at Hiei “Why!!!
You little br…” Duo didn’t have the chance to finish his insults;
Hiei soon vanished and was replaced by a ruby stone. His ruby stone! ‘Grumble’
‘Grumble’ “Why that, insolent, ungrateful shrimp! Hah! He’s
afraid of me! Wahahahah!” Duo declared proudly looking at the ruby
stone, his hands akimbo! Suddenly,”
You better take the boy home or else!! You saw what happened to the
beast…” Duo heard Hiei’s voice at the back of his mind. Duo
eyes grew bigger thinking about the monster that had been shredded into
pieces by Hiei’s katana. He
blanched and turned Sd-like. ‘MOVE!!’
Hiei barked. “Yahhhhh!!!”
Duo immediately trotted to the unconscious boy’s side. He lifted the
red headed boy effortlessly in his arm and rested him on his left
shoulder. Duo then snatched the ruby stone, which was lying on the
ground triumphantly, flung it in the air and right into his pocket. ‘Thee
hee heee’ Duo laughed like a stupid maniac. He felt like a million
dollar man. Hiei
sweat dropped. ‘Idiot…What are you doing?’ Duo
then scrambled out of the alley, flinging his hand frantically as not to
make the little monster mad. He shuned almost everyone on his way back
to his cottage. Don’t want them to get suspicious. ‘Called
me idiot…*grumble* *grumble* … then asked me to help him… *fuss*
… I ought ta’ teach him some manner!! ‘
And the cursed go on and on till… K’BOOM!!!! Unknown
to Duo, another boy was coming his way. They collided and crashed onto
the ground at the same time. “k’so!!”
Duo rubbed his sore butt. “Why don’t you watch where you’re…Hey!
Hey! Where are you going? I’m not finish here!!” The other boy stuck
out his tongue at Duo and resumed running. “You…!!!”
Duo clamed his hands. He was in a chibi-like form; a massive sweat drop
appeared at the back of his head, as he watched the other boy fled. “Come
back here!!” He was ready to go after the other boy when suddenly a
faint moan was heard at the background and ceased his action. It
was the read headed bishonen. Duo had completely forgotten about him. He
was busy cursing the other boy. ‘You
WHAT?!!’ Hiei berated him in his mind. Duo flinched. “Uh…”The
read headed boy was having a hard time getting to his feet. He tried
supporting his weigh with his palm but failed. Duo reached out his hand
but quickly pulled it back as if he was having doubts whether or not to
help the wobbling boy. ‘Should
I or shouldn’t I? Go or stay?’ Something
snapped. ‘HELP HIM BAKA!!!’ Duo’s long braid erected skyward. “Ye…ye..yeah!
K! Am going! Yeesh.” “Um…
are you okay?” Duo asked the other boy. His voice laced with
concerned…kind of. The
read head abruptly throw his head up, revealing the most beautiful
emerald eyes Duo had ever seen. ‘Woah! Is that contact lenses or
what?’ He stared. “Who…
Who are you?” The other boy hesitated. He looked pretty insecure and
didn’t seemed to trust Duo at all. ‘Frightened’ was clearly
