MANGA 8
SUMMARY: Manji almost bites it, big time. Hyakurin
nearly gets her throat chewed apart by an armless psycho. Rin thinks
about Shira and her own mission. She goes from one prefecture to
the next in pursuit of Anotsu. Anotsu finds the sword school that
he's been given, and is challenged to a practice duel by one of the students.
So we left Manga 7 with Manji, exhausted, set upon by the last Itto-Ryuu
member. He originally got in a fight with these three to take one
of their tegatas (like an Edo-style passport, something you needed
to get from one prefectre to another. Apparently trying to sneak
past a guad post ninja-style was suicidal and unbelievably difficult) but
these three were more than a match for him.
This manga begins with Manji getting the snot beat out of him.
First, his sword is cut in half.
Then, Manji Himself is nearly cut in half.
Manji manages to stand up again, draw his fork-like sword, and chop
off one of the guy's hands. The guy is screaming and screaming, so
Manji thought he would give up. But instead the guy gets furious
and charges back at him, cutting off first one of Manji's legs, and then
the other.
Then he sticks Manji to the ground through the chest with his sword, and
starts looking around for his other sword, and starts to stumble drunkenly
towards Manji- "gotta cut out this thing's heart". Manji's pretty
freaked out at this point- I mean, he doesn't expect to live very long
even WITH the bloodworms if his heart is cut out and thrown away.
But luckily, that's when Hyakurin comes in to save him, nailing the guy
in the back with one of her poison darts.
