Here's where things get interesting (or silly, depending on your perspective).
Ever see Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Hiroaki Samura makes a
presentation of the old Edo version of the Black Knight:
First, Hyakurin launches about 6 poison arrows into this guy- one in
his back, one in his eye, two in his chest, one in his arm, and one in
his face (through his cheek into his gums- nasty!). Then, as he charges
her, Shinriji jumps out of a tree and cuts off his hand...
but that just makes him mad.
He jumps after Shinriji, and starts kicking him. He kicks him into
a rice paddy, and leaps at Hyakurin.
He doesn't have any arms to strangle her with, so he beats her in the face
with his arm-stumps. Then he leaps on her and tries to tear ou her
throat with his teeth. Hyakurin folds up her crossbow (it folds into
two antler-like horn/blades) and sticks him with it through the back of
the next, obviously hitting his arteries. The blood shooting like
a fountain out the back of his neck hardly slows him down! Luckily,
Shinriji cuts his head off from behind. However, the Itto-Ryu guy
was laying on Hyakurin when he does...
Hyakurin and Shinriji are surprised (well, shocked actually) that Manji's
still alive, and they begin to start looking for his limbs when Master
Sori (remember him?) arrives to help.
Sori recognizes Hyakurin! He and Hyakurin's father are in the same
"secret police" style organization. He also seems to know the organization
(the REAL organization) that she's working for.
