Ascot is known as a Bal or a Shoukanshi…a summoner of creatures whenever he is in need of their assistance…he considers these creatures his friends and has learned the value of friendship through the Magic Knights, specially through a certain young lady who has always had a special place in his heart, Umi-chan.
He was a young boy not so long ago during the first time the Magic Knights were here in Cefiro, but has transformed himself into a young man later on. Many think he has done this for the purpose of being able to at least have Umi notice him and take him more seriously as an adult rather than as a child. He has always been close to Caldina since she has been his caretaker when he was in his child-like form, almost like his only family. I remember one instance when he has boldly set out to save Umi from the clutches of Chizeta on his own…but was knocked unconscious by Caldina and Rafaga since they fear that he would not be strong enough to stand a chance against the Genies of the two princesses from Chizeta.
It was a pity that Umi seems more interested in Guru Clef rather than this poor boy, I am not saying that Guru Clef is not a good man to be chosen, just that it is not worth investing those feelings for him since he is more interested in other matters but has always given time to spend with her. But amidst all that it seems that Ascot does have some chance with her since she also seems to care enough to stay by his side when he was bed-ridden and unconscious after one battle. The only problem is that he is such a shy young man that he gets tongue-tied whenever he is with Umi…that she might never know how much he likes her unless Caldina nudges him to go on. But I guess he is doing fairly well since Umi seems to acknowledge how he has always been there for her.
