OVERVIEW:	Shinji now knows that Rei was part-clone of her mother and avoided her, and with Tokyo-3 gone all his classmates transferred somewhere else. Seele sent the pilot to replace Asuka, the fifth children known as Kaworu, Kaworu quickly became Shinji's bestfriend. Later when Kaworu thought it was time, he revealed himself as the 17th angel over a surprised and angry Shinji. Kaworu took Eva-02 to the terminal dogma and Eva-01 intercepted. Eva-02 and Eva-01 fought with Shinji winning and Kaworu went to find Adam, the 1st angel when he discovered that the giant creature in the cross is not Adam but Lillith and with another thought he let Shinji grab him and asked Shinji to kill him else the world will suffer if he lives. The 3rd clone of Rei was watching above, and Kaworu told Rei how they are similar (Rei produced an AT field here). Shinji decided to kill Kaworu to save mankind but he didnt forgive himself for what he did.
DETAILED SUMMARY:	In the opening we see a young Asuka racing in a bright orange field shouting "Mama, I was chosen! I am now an elite pilot that will defend mankind! The only one in the world!" But the mother that met Asuka was a person hanging from the ceiling. This scene has haunted the life of Asuka and after the suicide of her mother, she learned to depend only in herself and this contributed to her pride souring and to her eventually destruction when her synchronization rate fallen and lost the qualification to pilot an Eva. Piloting an Eva was all the thing she had and when that was taken away from her, her purpose to live was taken away also. Back at 2015, Asuka was lying naked in a bathtub in brown foul water, in one of the abandon broken houses in the now destroyed Tokyo-3. Mentally disturbed and whispering to herself "Synchronization zero, dismissed as an Eva pilot. What else do I have to live for." Finally the intelligence section of Nerv found the location of the missing Asuka and took her back to Nerv and hospitalized her. Meanwhile Shinji was back in his room thinking back the past few days and talking to herself "Ayanami Rei, I knew it! I always felt it was her." Ayanami Rei, mother....what have you done, Father." Back at Nerv, Gendou visited a court-martialed Ritsuko and asked her why she destroyed the dummy-plug. Ritsuko answered " I didnt destroy a dummy-plug, it was Rei that I destroyed." "Why?" "Because I dont want to love you anymore, Im not happy holding you anymore." Gendou retorted "you have failed me". Ritsuko flared back "failed? You dont even care for me from the very beginning! You dont care about anybody! You dont care at all!" Gendou walked out of the prison cell without saying a word while Ritsuko cried loudly in the background, she then whispered to herself "What should I do now mother". Shinji is outside, looking at the sitting sun and what is left of Tokyo-3. He said "Touji and Kensuke, like everybody who have lost their houses here has transferred to another place. Friends, I dont have anybody to call friends anymore. Nobody."He continued "I dont want to see Ayanami, I dont have the courage too, How would I face Ayanami after everything? Asuka, Misato-san, Mother...What should I do now?". It was in this instant that he heard somebody whistling the music "Ode of Joy" from Beethoven's 9th symphony, he looked and another boy with the same school uniform he was wearing was sitting on a beheaded statue of an angel looking at the setting sun. "Dont you just like music?" he said. Shinji suprised said "err, what?" The boy said "Music can fill the heart, one of Lillin's culture 's most outstanding creations. Dont you think so Shinji Ikari?" The boy turned and his red eyes met that of Shinji and Shinji blushed "You know my name?". The boy replied "Everybody on earth knows your name. Sorry to say this but I believe you should try to examine yourself again." He continued "My name is Kaworu. Kaworu Nagisa, Like you Im one of the selected children. The fifth children" Shinji suprised "Fifth children? You? .....Nagisa ?" Kaworu smiled "You can call me Kaworu, Ikari". Shinji blushed "And you call me Shinji too." Kaworu smiled and to Shinji, Kaworu was shining in the setting sun. Misato and Makoto were in the tram card heading toward Nerv headquarters when Makoto was informing Misato about what he has uncovered from his friends at the intelligence section of Nerv. "Everything about Kaworu Nagisa has been erased in all Nerv Computers, there is nothing about him like Rei. The only thing I discovered is, his birthday is the same as the second impact". Misato said "He was personally sent by Seele, and the same time Asuka lost the qualification to ride Eva-02, the coincidence is too unbelievable to ignore". After arriving, a synchronization test was done to Rei, Shinji and Kaworu. Fuyutsuki was suprised at the high synchronization rate of Kaworu in an Eva designed for Asuka. Fuyutsuki said "This data is correct I presumed." Makoto said "All instruments are in perfect operation mode" Maya retordted"MAGI confirms the results. But that is impossible, we havent changed the core to fit him and yet the synchronization is of the mark, this is theorethically impossible". But Misato blantly said "But it is the truth, first we accept the truth and then search the cause" After the synchronization test, Kaworu was standing near the exit of the long escalator of Nerv when Rei noticed him as she gets off, "So you are the first children, Ayanami Rei, You and me are the same you know". Rei looked blankly at Kaworu and said "Who are you?". Kaworu didnt answer and left. Soon after, Fuyutsuki was informing Gendou of the meeting of Rei and Kaworu and Kaworu's odd ability to synchronize. Meanwhile Misato returned home and used her laptop with Kaji's micro chip and hacked all MAGI systems of the world and yet no sign or information relating to Kaworu was discovered. Tired she went to visit Asuka and Shinji's empty room and told herself "I failed as a guardian..." Shinji was waiting for Kaworu at deck B-16 when Kaworu, after finishing the days work, was suprised to see him outside waiting for him. Kaworu: "Any plans ?" Shinji : "Well, I finished the compulsory exams today, all I need is to shower and then go home..." Shinji with a sad voice continued : "But the truth is I dont feel like going home...especially these days" Kaworu looked at Shinji : "Having a home to go to, having that feeling that you actually have a home to go to should make you happy. There is nothing like home." Shinji suprised looked at Kaworu: "You think so ?" Kaworu: "You and I need to talk, wont you come with me ?" Shinji looked suprised Kaworu: "To take a bath. You said you are heading to take a shower right?" Shinji blankly looked at Kaworu and said "yes" and both went to take a shower and bath. As both of them sit naked at the hot spring large bath room of Nerv, Kaworu was tranquil while Shinji was nervous and blushing. Suddenly Kaworu softly touched the hand of Shinji but unlike that of Misato touching his hand, Shinji didnt move and at this realization, Shinji himself was suprised. Kaworu: "You try to avoid personal contact of people even in touching. Why are you scared? Is it because that if you dont get to know the other person, that person wont be able to betray you or harm you in anyway? But if you dont interact, that feeling of sadness wont pass away. Humans, no matter how they try, they will never completely drive sadness away. But you know, you can forget sadness for a while if you interact and that makes life worth living." The lights went off and both looked around, Kaworu said "It must be time". Shinji followed "I guess its past the time". Kaworu then said "Yes...well, gotta sleep...with you ?". Shinji blushing like hell said "huh? well...err....I think...I think you have a seperate room especially for you...but I...dont mind Kaworu: "Man has always felt the pain of loneliness, and living with that pain in one's heart must be hard, especially with people with heart of glass like yours". Shinji blushing said: "me ?" Kaworu: "Yes, I think Im beginning to like you." Shinji: "Like?" Kaworu: "Yes, I like you. " Meanwhile Seele in a secret meeting decided to relieve Gendou of his responsibilities, they fear that Nerv has now become a tool of one man's ambition. They start to plan the retaking of Nerv. At the meantime, Gendou was at the Eva-01 hangar alone, talking to the robot. He said "We have little time left, but at least the Longinus Spear is gone. The last angel will appear anytime now and if that angel is destroyed, our purpose will be fulfilled. We are almost there, Yui." Back at the bedroom of Kaworu, Shinji is wondering why he is there in the first place. Shinji then talked about his past. Kaworu asked "Dont you like people ?". Shinji replied "Doesnt really matter, I dont really think much about it but one thing I can tell you is I hate my father". When Shinji looked at Kaworu, his eyes met that of Kaworu and Kaworu smiled and said "I think I was born just to meet you." And Shinji blushed. Days passed and even with Makoto's analysis of Kaworu's odd ability to control his synchronization, no clue is yet discovered who Kaworu really is, Misato then went to the cell of Ritsuko to ask her and Ritsuko said "You have found the last angel". Later, Kaworu was at the Eva-02 hangar and said to the robot "It is time". He started to float in the air. Makoto shouted to Misato "Eva-02 has initiated start sequence!". Misato retorted back"That is impossible, where is Asuka?". Shigeru said "unconscious at room 303". Maya then said "There is no one at the entry plug". Then an AT Field was detected at the central dogma level 3 and Misato was suprised to see that Kaworu is really the 17th Angel. Kaworu was decending the corridor with Eva-2 protecting him. Meanwhile Fuyutsuki cant believe that Seele actually sent the last angel directly to Nerv. Gendou ordered all the shatters of the central dogma to close but Eva-02 just destroys it. Gendou ordered Eva-01 to intercept. Fuyutsuki and Gendou realized that Seele has finally seen through their plan and betrayal. Shinji was informed of the 17th Angel and he keep punching his controls in his entry plug and shouting "That cant be! That cant be true! Kaworu cant be an Angel! That is a lie!" But the launch order didnt change and Shinji went to intercept. Shinji was shouting "You betrayed me! You betrayed my feelings! You just like my father! You betrayed me!" but Kaworu just said "I was waiting for you." Then Eva-02 attacked Eva-01 and they fight as they descend slowly. "Stop it Kaworu, why are you doing this." Kaworu replied "The Eva series is just like me". During the fight Shinji went to check if Kaworu is really an Angel by thrusting his progressive knife at Kaworu. A strong AT Field stopped the knife. Shinji suprised "AT Field ?". Kaworu said "Yes you call it AT Field, where no one can penetrate, the holiest of holies. the light of the heart, everybody even you possess an AT Field, it is the wall that encloses your heart" Shinji said "I dont get what you are saying!". Shinji distracted, Eva-02 penetrated Eva-01's AT Field and pierced the chest of Eva-01. Eva-01 then wewnt for the throat of Eva-02. Misato whispered an order to Makoto for auto-destruct of Nerv the moment Eva-01 is defeated. Misato then said "sorry". Makoto replied "Not at all, at least I will die with you." It was this time that both Eva-01 and Eva-02 with Kaworu transported to the terminal dogma and was lost to all the sensors of Nerv. Kaworu headed for what he thought was Adam while Shinji fought Eva-02. Meanwhile Rei went to the terminal dogma and produced at AT Field which Melchor-1 detected but soon the signal was lost due to the interferance of Kaworu's AT Field. Kaworu discovered that the giant white creature is not Adam but Lillith and was disappointed, it was at this moment that Shinji defeated Eva-02 and went for Kaworu. Kaworu's purpose was to search for Adam but finding Lillith instead he felt his purpose gone and let Eva-01 grabbed him. Shinji then said "Why Kaworu ?". Kaworu replied "My destiny is to live even if mankind dies in the process but I decided that I should die. To me, life and death is the same. Suicide is the only form of absolute freedom". Shinji looked at Kaworu and said "I dont understand what you are saying, I dont understand at all." Kaworu replied "Its my Will, I think its not right that you should die and I to continue to live". Rei was watching from above just one deck above the terminal dogma and Kaworu look up at Rei and smiled. Kaworu looked at Shinji and said "You and your kind deserves a future. Get rid of me now. And Shinji Thank You for everything, Im happy to have met a person like you." Shinji was crying and after a long long silence he crushed Kaworu and his head fell in the LCL below. The next scene is Gendou and Rei together watching Eva-01 being cleaned and the robot's blood stained hand being washed. While Shinji is outside in the same spot where he first met Kaworu, with Misato comforting Shinji. Shinji said "Kaworu was the first person to have ever told me he liked me .... The very first....He said he liked me....Kaworu should have lived and I should have died." Misato retorted "No, the person who survives is a person who has the will to live. He wanted to die. You are not the reason why he died." Shinji just said blantly to Misato without looking at her "You are so cold Misato-san....................................." The Rebirth part of the movie starts here check the continuation
CHECKPOINT:	You can see from the destruction brought about by the explosion of Eva-00 that what was left of Tokyo-3 was a big crater filled with sea water. Just a little note on Japanese culture here. In Japan, males dont mind taking a shower or Japanese bath whether hot spring or not, together and being naked is a must (this go also among females). There is nothing erotic about it. In Japan there is such a word known as "Skin-ship" or friends that talk about problems of life in general from sex life to work life while they enjoy the hot bath. To talk of problems while lying naked together in a pool of hot water for minutes to even hours is a sign of deep platonic friendship between males (and also between females) Pen-pen was put under the care of Hikari, after Misato felt the end is near. Notice that the movie showed Lillith with legs while here in the TV series it was still just up till the torso
TRIVIA:	Like Rei, the eyes of Kaworu is Red, specifically instructed by Director Anno. Kaworu keeps on going in and out of doors/gates number 13. The deck where the entrace to Nerv is without using the tram car is on deck B-16 Asuka is confined in hospital room MR303 and is unconscious. Camera reads "SECOND C. S. ASUKA LANGLEY MR303 LIVE" Screen reads "EVA-02 IN OPERATION ENTRY PLUG NOT PRESENT UNMANNED CHECKED BY MAGI-1-2-3" Screen reads "A.T.FIELD GENERATING DETECTED AT CENTRAL DOGMA LEVEL #3" The scene where Shinji killed Kaworu was a 120 cut, one minute shot of complete silence
BLOPPERS:	Notice that during the synchronization test of Kaworu, the screen reads "FIFTH C" while the computer panel of Makoto reads "SECOND C" Also notice the secret place that Misato choosed to meet Makoto in their search for the real nature of Kaworu. It was a bridge somewhere outside Tokyo-3, the blooper is the Pyramid Nerv Headquarters can be seen in the background. Nerv headquarters is suppose to be under sea water now and at Geofront. How can Eva-01 descend the central dogma if it cant fly and has no boasters to control descent?
