Sorry to butt in, but I want to defend John.

When I go to anipike or something to look up an anime series or something,
if I highlight the link w/my house and see that it's a geocities site in
the lower right hand corner of my browser, I automatically skip over it.

Granted not all geocities sites suck, but 1)Geocities' server is slow.
2)Because it's a free service(like all free services), it's overrun by
amatures who want to make homepages but don't really know how.

I'm not saying that I consider my homepage the best thing in the world,
but at least I can say I programmed it with HTML, not with some WYSIWYG
editors that 3 year olds can use(no offense to people who use them on this
ML, *ahem* gerald...).

But back to the point. I skip the typical free sites altogether(ie
Geocities, Tripod, etc), and if I miss some good sites in the process, my
loss right? But at least I won't be weeding through a ton of sites I
couldn't care less about.
