Until we have the movie, we have the pictures! This is a collection of as
many of the promotional posters, ad spreads and article illustrations I've
been able to find! Many were scanned for me by the Scanner of the
Revolution, Dafto, without whom this page would not rock. (grin).
Warning: Although the thumbnails are small, it may take time to load them
all, so please be patient! The newest images are at the top of the page,
oldest at the bottom.

As we get closer to the actual movie date, we start seeing more of the
actual images of the movie- see the June Newtype shot for an example. Hm,
I wonder now how much is in the manga that isn't in the movie, and vice
versa?

The mystery has been answered- indeed, Akio WAS redesigned! Check out the
new image in May Newtype 99. graciously sent in by Dafto...
And those of us who had that dark love affair with Akio can resume it
now! (hehe)..

Who is this mysterious
newcomer? Could this be the 'new' Akio, given that the voice actor has
changed? It's hard to say, but given the mark he bears and a similar
posturing and positioning to the 'old' Akio... Though, come to think of
it, it's really hard to say. "Ootori Akio" as we conventionally know him
WAS shown in the character design templates back in March Newtype... but
of course things could have been changed between now and then... hmm...
Mysterious, ne! This image is of a special phone card that was given
out with the purchase of advance tickets (that were on sale 3/20) for
Adolescence Mokushiroku.
By the way, the new voice actor for Akio will be Mitsuhiru Oikawa,
a singer and dramatic/commercial voice actor since 1996.

February 1999 - the plot thickens
|
February was apparently 'bondage month' over at Be-Papas while setting up
for the Utena movie; two different images with a similar theme! Oh my...
needless to say, if you feel even a LITTLE squeamish about such things,
it's probably best you don't click on the thumbnails.
