A rare form of the Japanese animation film art that strives to tell a story in an `evolutionary' sense; that is, to begin with the science [knowledge] of man and man's `awareness of self', then proceed into the philosophical and ultimately theological [religious] fascination mankind holds between itself and the Universe. The writings of Arthur C. Clarke (author of 2001: A Space Odyessy and inventor of the communications satellite) are the best literary examples of the potential of this method of storytelling.
