YMS-08A Prototype

While Zeonic developed the YMS-07 Gouf, a rival team of Earth Attack Force engineers was working simultaneously on the YMS-08, another land combat mobile suit intended to succeed the Zaku II. This competing design was equipped with supplemental thrusters that enabled it to make short-distance jumps. However, the YMS-08's price/performance ratio was poor, and its development was ultimately merged with that of the YMS-07. Eight prototypes were completed, and later found their way into the hands of Earth Attack Force pilots.

Mobile suit mavens may have noted that there are two established versions of the MS-08, with few design elements in common. For this illustration, we've taken the early-'80s Mobile Suit Variation and revamped it after the style of the late-'90s MS-08TX Ifrit. Thus, we strive to reconcile this decade-old contradiction.
