Episode Zero

Format: Comic
Story Date: After Colony 187-195

This series of comics, which ran in the monthly Anime V from February to September 1997 and was subsequently compiled into a single volume, recounts the mysterious past of each of the major Gundam W cast members. Written by Katsuyuki Sumisawa and illustrated by Akira Kanbe, it also features a prototype version of the Shenlong Gundam designed by Junya Ishigaki.

While this material has never been animated, and thus can't be considered completely canonical, Sumisawa was also the scenarist for the Gundam W television series and the Endless Waltz video series, and may therefore be assumed to know what he's talking about. Some incidents from the Episode Zero comic were also included in Sumisawa's Endless Waltz novelization.
