Ichinose Hanae and her family occupy Room One of Ikkoku-kan. As a member of the Looney Gang, she lives for gossips and usually spreads them around like wildfire without considering the consequences. Since she also live closest to Kyoko's room and the public phone Godai uses, the gossips are usually about them. Being an extremely heavy drinker, Ichinose-san can often be bribed with alcohol. She drinks from the time she wakes up in the morning till before she goes to bed at night. In fact, alcohol played the major role in how she ended up marrying Mr. Ichinose and after her marriage, had her son Kentaro.

Her Family

Mr. Ichinose first met Hanae when he worked in a small company. Being in love with another woman, he never noticed Hanae until at a company party where she proposed to him. Being very weak-willed, he eventually married Hanae and fathered his son Kentaro. Ichinose tousan, having to earn enough money to support his family and his wife's alcohol abuse, often works overtime and rarely seen by the other occupants of Ikkoku-kan.

Kentaro is the son of Hanae and Mr. Ichinose. He views his mother as an useless drunkard who likes to embarrass him in front of everyone with her unusual dance. Someday, he wishes to leave the abnormal people of Ikkoku-kan and live among normal people.
