Roppongi Akemi lives in Room Six of Ikkoku-kan. Although she lives next door to Godai, she conveniently uses his room to sleep or socialize with the other occupants. As a member of the Looney Gang, she often walks around in skimpy outfits to distract and arouse Godai. When Akemi is sober, she works as the waitress of Cha Cha Maru, a pub located near Ikkoku-kan. She doesn't have much luck in relationships with men, for she thinks there isn't any man who can handle her as his mate. However, when Akemi is drunk (half the time), she lives in her own delusional state and acts like the rest of the Looney Gang to make Godai's life miserable.
Overall, Akemi is the nicest among the Looney Gang to Godai. She, in her own limited way, feels sorry for him and hopes that he succeed. However her pity might be due to her interest in Mitaka-san. She figures if Godai succeeds in his love for Kyoko, it would free up Mitaka Shun for her. Therefore, Akemi-san might be the slyest and hardest inhibitant of Ikkoku-kan to fully understand (not taking anything away from Yotsuya-san, of course). ^_^
Deep inside her, Akemi feels a bit sorry for Godai-san. Living just next door to him, she witnesses daily how he struggles in academics and love. His struggle and perseverence are what really attract her to route him on to succeed in his goals. There is a rumors in which she claims to seduced Godai for personal reasons. However, that's just a rumor, right?
Mitaka-san is Akemi's favorite love toy. She, like all women, is attracted by Mitaka's wealth, great looks, and mannerism. Although, she knows that Mitaka will never fall for a woman like her, she continues to jump onto Mitaka and seduce him at any possible chance. Mitaka, on the otherhand, thinks of Akemi as just another obstacle in pursuing his love with Kyoko-san.
