Mechanics
In 1990, anticipating the following year's Gundam F91 movie, Bandai released a model kit of the title Gundam's predecessor, the Gundam F90. This mobile suit could carry a wide variety of accessory equipment, and the kit included three sets of weapons for the plug-and-play Gundam.
Bandai's Cyber Comix series carried the accompanying comic strip, an eight-part serial by Hiroshi Yamaguchi and Rei Nakahara that was subsequently compiled into a single volume. In this story, a leftover band of Zeon soldiers called the Oldsmobile Army seizes one of the prototype F90 units, and a Federation force is dispatched to the Oldsmobile Army's Mars base to retrieve it.
